What should I do if I go into labor alone?

Okay y'all Iv been gettin close to my due date and the doctor told me to expect her to probably come a little earlier, well my husband works out of town a lot and I stay home by myself most of the time, I'm a little worried that I'm going to go into labor while he's gone and I don't want to panic when it happens. What's the best thing to do if this does happen? This is my first baby and my closest family member lives about 30 minutes away.

  • How far is your hospital?
  • DH and I actually put a plan together for this since it made me nervous, however he works locally and our hospital is local so the fear isn't nearly as great.  If I felt as if I needed to report to the hospital while he was at work, I am calling his parents first (if they are not at work) and they will take me to the hospital to get checked out.  If they are NOT available we do have a couple of friends who have kindly volunteered to be on our short list.  We have decided that if he is at work and I think I need to be at the hospital that I will go without him, and only call him once we have confirmed that I need to stay. Although ultimately he thinks he would feel bad for not being there right away if I go in for the real deal right away we have also both agreed and acknowledged the fact that as first time parents, we're prone to false alarms.. and we don't want him to miss hours at a very lucrative temp job for a false alarm (despite the fact that HR has told him that they would understand).
