Thank you all for the kind thoughts! Everyone is doing great and Annabel and I are trying to get a hang of the whole BFing thing :-) I was able to shower and am thoroughly enjoying being able to eat without getting sick! Here's our long, but quick, birth story:
Saturday morning, DH and I headed to our infant care class and then went to a friend's for a party. All day I felt great...just a little tired from getting up so early. We left the party and got home around 11:30 and we both went to bed. I got up around 1:30 to pee and noticed my MP. I didn't think much of it and went back to bed. I got back up at 2 b/c it felt like I needed to make a BM, but when I got to the bathroom, I just discovered a lot of blood. I laid back down, debating about calling the OB. After a little bit, I decided to start timing what I thought were waves of BM pressure. They got more painful and more frequent, so I called and she told me to head to L&D.
On the way there, the contractions got exponentially worse and at one point, i told DH "Fuck this, I want the epidural!" When we got to the hospital at 3:30, I had DH drop me off at the ER entrance b/c I didn't feel like I could walk to L&D. While waiting for a gurney, I got a really strong contraction and my water broke..it overflowed the pad I had on and went all over! On the way up to L&D, I got the overwhelming urge to push during contractions...and it was super painful.
I was in so much pain, I couldn't even change into a gown...I ended up on my hands and knees naked lol. The nurses let me push and then checked my progress...there was her head! Too late for meds. The midwife finally arrived and only had to talk me through about 30 more minutes of pushing.
Annabel Joy was born 8/31 at 4:19 am with a few wailing screams...and then promptly fell asleep on my chest. Birth was med free and I didn't tear. She's an absolute doll...so quiet and mild mannered. :-) From the first contraction to a wiggly baby took about 2.5 hours.
