Went to Dennys for breakfast and the server dumped a whole glass of coke on top of E.
Like right over the top of his head.. I mean I know accidents happen but it could have been my coffee.
I demanded a new server but she sort of acted like I should feel bad for the first guy bc he feels terrible about it.
I told dh I want bonus points for not issuing a tp and making a huge scene.
Re: how mad would you be?
Servers are programmed to rush...even if it's not busy, they're still supposed to move quickly. Personally, i was a lot more careful with hot drinks and hot plates than cold ones, so sometimes in the rush, cold stuff got passed over the heads of little ones where I would have rounded the table with coffee.
I'd just let it go. But keep it in mind for when you spill something all over your kid...because it will happen.
I did speak to a waitress once when she set a hot plate with a sharp knife in front of DS when he was seven months, instead of on the other side of the table in front of me.
The poor guy felt bad. He didn't hurt your kid. Calm down.
Heck, after our dog was hit by a car, one of the first things I asked was if the driver knew it wasn't his fault and that I wasn't mad. fraz didn't bear weight for a month and I wasn't angry at the two people who caused the accident, because it was an accident. Alone, their mistakes weren't a big deal. Combined, it meant fraz got hit. The important thing was that they didn't blame themselves, because neither would ever risk him on purpose.
If i dumped soda on him that's my bad and I'd feel awful but as a total double standard I guess.. its just different and it upset me.
I want to add to though that I have the upmost respect for anyone in the service industry and I'm sure it ruined dudes whole day.
Seriously, being a waitress/waiter is hard. Like really hard. That was my first job and it was awful. Accidents happen and when they do, it's hard to get over. I dropped one glass cup in the kitchen. One. And glass went everywhere. 8 years later and I still remember how embarrassed I felt. I can absolutely guarantee that the server felt so bad, and won't ever forget doing that to your baby. Do I think that at any given time a tray should be passed over anyone's head--absolutely not. That was a big rule when I was a waitress. But I think you went a little over the top in asking for a new server. Shit happens. I would feel bad for my LO because they have no clue what just happened, but beyond that... oh well.
Edit spelling
I was just at Olive Garden and had R in the Ktan. I got servered my soup and the young guy waiter told me to be careful eating it as to not spill any on LO head. He was so right I had to laugh at myself for not thinking about it before I shoveled the food in.
