Cloth Diapering

CD-safe diaper creams?

What do you guys recommend?

Re: CD-safe diaper creams?

  • My favorites are CJs BUTTer and Grovia Magic Stick

  • For just regular skin protection, CJ's Buttr. Some people really like coconut oil.

For a bit more protection, Waxelene or Magic Stick (because they have beeswax)

Grandma El's for the more stubborn rashes.
  • We use CJs and love it. It works great for all her minor skin irritations and daily use.

  • I love Earth Mama Angel Baby Baby Bottom Balm for home and Grovia Magic Stick for the diaper bag.

  • Can you use coconut oil? I have a friend who uses it and says it works awesome.
  • Another vote for the Gro Via Magic Stick. I use it as a barrier during his expected pooping times and I also find it clears up rant redness that might pop up. Colin had a really poopy day last week (he even pooped overnight) so his bum got a bit red. I put him in a disposable with Live Clean diaper cream for a few changes and it didn't help. I went back to my unbleached prefolds and Magic Stick, the redness cleared up in 3 hours (two changes).

  • I'm the rebel here and put sudocrem on only if he's wearing a flat as it washes easily. I usually put a little bit on after a poop.

At night with pockets I use coconut oil after his bath for the night. No sudocrem will touch my pockets or inserts because then it can be a pain to wash.
  • DD rarely needs diaper cream but when she does I use coconut oil or the free sample tube of burt's bees diaper cream I was given.
  • @NatesCupcake47 - I think I've read that burt's bees diaper cream is possibly not cloth safe - so watch out for repelling issues, and maybe look into getting a different sample sized cream (CJ's sells them!) for the occasions you use them.

OP, I mostly use CJ's BUTTer, and turn to CJ's BUTTer plus or waxelene for tougher rashes.  We've also used Grovia Magic Stick and Earth Mama Angel Baby's with a bit less luck.
