Oh my! WARNING - BFP mentioned… mine!

Ladies,

You are the first to know outside of DH and my mom… but I just got the call, and my beta was 71 with progesterone >80… I am pregnant. Of course, we still need to figure out the doubling rate and see if the pregnancy is viable, but I figured that if I suffered a loss at this point, I would tell you ladies anyway. So I thought I should share the initial joy, too.

As you know, we were diagnosed with MFI in June. Two SAs: 10.7 mill/ml concentration, 12% progressive motility, and 0% normal morphology, followed by an even better one: 6.4 mill/ml concentration, 14% progressive motility, and 0% normal morphology. We were told IVF-ICSI.

Urologist immediately put DH on clomiphene citrate (early July), with a followup SA planned for October. He also had DH consider doing a varicocelectomy if the clomid did not work. I had DH start taking a handful of vitamins then, too. (Thank you, TLooney17, for giving me leads on those!) Meanwhile, our RE ran all the tests on us. DH's hormones came back perfect, and a DNA test revealed zero Y chromosome deletions. My tests were all normal.

We were devastated and confused by the idiopathic MFI news. We needed some time emotionally and financially for IVF, so our RE was willing to try a few medicated IUI's. This month was our first medicated "IUI" try--but unfortunately, the CD 13 u/s showed that I had just ovulated. The IUI was cancelled, and we were left with TI. Given that TI has not worked for more than a year, I was pretty upset and certainly not hopeful.

I really can't tell you how this happened. Did DH's numbers improve on the clomid and vitamins/supplements??? I might have had a better sense of that if we could have done the IUI (I would have seen the post-wash numbers). Or, was this our one-in-a-million chance realized??? When we first got the diagnosis and bleak prognosis, I scoured the internet for success stories. I guess that's why I'm putting it out there, but I caution: I really don't know how it happened. And, if this ends in miscarriage, I don't yet know what we'll do.

Now that I've put that out there, I want to say a few words to this board. THANK YOU! I honestly could not have made it through this summer without you. While we were happy to finally find out why things have not been working out for us, the MFI information was really tough to bear. I had a lot of stuff going on this summer, and I feel like I've failed in all these things because I've just been so depressed and preoccupied with IF and TTC. Even on my lowest days, though, this board cheered me up--whether it was offering someone else support (getting me out of my own head for a bit) or whether it was getting amazing support from you all (my gosh, I still can't believe the amazing comments I got on my really depressing intro post). You girls are wonderful, and I really really will keep hoping that you get to see two lines soon (and that it sticks).

Anyways, I hope you don't mind if I still lurk until DH and I get more information. And, if things go south, I hope you will welcome me back.

That's amazing, Lola! What a blessing. Wow, so unexpected...love the hope it gives us MFI ladies! I'm glad you shared and let us celebrate with you, even though you're still concerned about second beta.
