Postpartum Depression

Just started Zoloft...no side effects

I started taking Zoloft 25mg x1 week/ 50mg 2nd week/ 75mg 3rd week. Currently i'm in the middle of my second week so i've upped the dosage only once so far. I know it takes a while to kick in but i've had no side effects that I can really notice and i'm trying to figure out if it's too early for it to be working or if it's working at all? I was really really nervous to go on this as I have never taken anything like this before. I was worried about the side effects, and not that i'm complaining or anything but am surprised I haven't felt any really.

Re: Just started Zoloft...no side effects

  • I didn't have any side effects, but after 2 weeks I could definitely tell that it was making a difference in my mood and ability to cope. I started out on 50 mg and upped it to 100 mg after 2 weeks.

  • If it's titrated up slowly enough (and it seems like yours is) then that should make side effects a lot less likely/noticeable. It can take a few weeks before you get the full benefit of the med, but hopefully it'll start helping soon. If not, make sure you talk to your doctor about upping the dose or switching meds. Everyone responds differently.

Son: Jackson, 11/02/06, stillborn due to PPROM and IUGR. Over the next ten years we had 9 miscarriages from 8-14 weeks. On May 18, 2016 my daughter, Ridley, was born. We're OADNBC.
  • That's great. I didn't do so well with it and it's supposed to be one that most don't react to. My dr told me about two weeks to start to work so it sounds like it may be helping you. I'm happy to hear that it's helping!
  • The first two days I was jittery and really that's it. I felt it start working within the first week and got better each week. By week two or three I felt close to my normal self most of the time. Now three months later I am back to normal (but still on Zoloft. 75mg)

  • Lurker here.

I had major nausea for the first couple weeks. I could barely eat. Thankfully that tapered off. I've been at 50mg/day for a year now and have zero side effects. Its been life changing for me to be on Zoloft and I wish I would've started it MUCH sooner. (I started it when my youngest was 1.5. I should've been on it right away. We had a prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome and a heart defect. I Also suffered from PTSD stemming from her hospitalization and heart surgery). I still some times feel guilty that I waited so long to get help.
  • I didn't really have any side effects either.  I am on 25mg and it is plenty for me.  Before my period, I do feel a little more anxious, so I use Rescue Remedy to get me through.

  • I need to talk toy doctor about this because I was prescribed lexapro and it made me feel worse I just found this thread by accident glad to know I'm not alone . Lately I've been feeling so sad I'm thinking I have PTSD
  • Remember any sari van take up to 6 weeks before the full effects of the drug can be felt. It takes time and you these types of med have to build up in your system. Also it is not uncommon to go though many dosage changes before finding the right one. I have taken zoloft on and off for 15 years now. Wi the dd I started it immediately the minute she was born because ob knew I'd be dealing with ppd. I am s to ll on it 2 years later and coping well. For me it easy about t he we weeks in before I stated to notice it was working.
