Bottle feeding for EBF baby

I don't feel comfortable NIP, so I just take bottles with us out. He is a piglet. He will gobble 5-6 oz straight. I've tried pacing it, and burping him every oz or so. Is that too much for him? I doubt he's getting that much from my boobs in such a short timeframe. He starts daycare next week and I'm worried about over feeding.the most he's eaten was 6 oz over 2 hours. Then today he ate 5 ounces in under an hour.

    You'll want 1-1.5 ounces for every hour you're away from baby. Most divide it up into 3-4 ounce bottles with instructions and with the smaller amount in the bottle LO will likely finish it. Most day cares throw away the liquid gold if the baby doesn't finish it. So it'll help make sure it doesn't go to waste.

    Have you tried a slower nipple? DD had the same problem so I found slower nipple bottles so she had to work at it more. She's now fine with less. I think the other bottles didn't give her time to realize she was full because they flowed too fast. The regular Dr. Brown's (not the wide neck) with a level 1 worked well for us, so you may give that a try. You can always get premie nipples, too, for that bottle. Breastflow bottles also have a slow flow for her as well. I tried about 4 other brands besides those first that were all too fast and she ate a ton from them.

    I'm using the kiinde twist nipples, with the slow flow nipple. I think I might experiment to see if there are slower flow ones out there.

    @SuperTinkerham‌ I was surprised at how different they all were when they all say they are slow. Hope you find one that works!

    DD doesn't eat her bottles fast but she makes such a mess and dribbles EVERYWHERE (at least half an oz per bottle). I'm wondering if a slower flow nipple would prevent this? We're using regular dr.browns.

    One more question, how many bottles do you send? Not oz, but actual bottles. I've got it all stored in pouches that are anywhere from 1-4oz.

    How old is she? Our girl couldn't drink from a bottle without spilling until about six weeks old, even with a slow flow nipple.

    Mine started daycare yesterday.  She is 7 weeks.  I send 4 bottles that are about 3.5 oz each.  She eats normally every 2-3 hours.

    @likeanoldtimemovie‌ she's 8 weeks on Monday but has only been consistently on a bottle for the past two weeks

    I agree with others about perhaps finding a slower flow nipple (if there is one slower than what yours already is).  Also, are you bringing bottles that are 5-6oz full and he's finishing them, or smaller bottles and he's wanting more after finishing one and thus getting 5-6oz?  If it's the first, I'd try smaller amounts (3-4 oz) and after finishing it and burping wait a bit to offer more. 

    For how many bottles to send into DC, I'll be sending one for each feeding and one extra just in case she needs more to eat at a feeding.  Since she's on a schedule that I'll be having the DC continue I know that means 2 bottles (feed at 9, I'll go nurse at 12, feed at 3).

    He's guzzling 2-3 oz bottles. I try to stop and burp him after every oz and pause quite a bit. He's wanting more after the first bottle.
