  First Son - born 2013

  Second Son - born 2014 - Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) and Double Outlet Right Ventricle (DORV).  First open heart surgery at 5 days old.  He's had 3 open heart surgeries and several other procedures and is currently doing amazing.
  Third Son - due June 9, 2018

  I agree with PPs that it seems early to do a sweep unless you're trying to ensure you go into spontaneous labor to avoid an RCS, I've seen some moms doing that.
  
  Unfortunately, a sweep does not guarantee labor. In fact, many OBs won't do them at all becasue of the high incidence of false labor they cause... which might be what's going on with you. I can't say for sure as I'm not a doctor and I don't know what's going on with you at this moment. Like the rest of us... just continue to wait until your contractions get closer or your water breaks. If you have any other concerning symptoms or want to ease your mind call your OB.... that's what he/she is there for.

  @bumwaters‌ I wouldn't worry about them doing a sweep at your 39w appt if you don't want it. I was offered a sweep at my 39w appt and turned it down without a problem. Now a week later, tomorrow on my due date I will not turn down the sweeping because it is time for baby to arrive.

  I have a thought...
  How about you let the baby come when it is ready. When I think of pregnancy there is a number that comes to mind, and that magical number is 40, as in 40 weeks. It is even okay to go over that number.
  
  As for experience I have never had a stretch and sweep done, and probably never will because 1.) I think checks are painful enough. 2.) There is nothing that guarantees it will send you into labor. 3.) I will wait until the doctors won't let me wait any longer.
  As for my experience with labor if the contractions are mild and then stop you are probably not in active labor. If you are not sure call your doctor they sound aggressive and will surely answer your question.

  This is me. I'm trying to avoid a RCS so my doctor is doing on at my appt next Friday (I'll be 38+4). Normally in don't think he would have even thought about doing it till the following week at my Thursday appt at 39+3 or even not till I was overdue. You probably have false labour.   I had pre eclampsia in my last pregnancy.
  I seem to be ok for now but the dr is trying to avoid that whole thing.
  I'm at an increased risk between week 39-40.

  Ded!! You guys are killing me!! I'm mobile bumping in the waiting room at my appt and keep having to cover my mouth or pretend I'm coughing to hide my laughing!!!

  I had this with my last pregnancy at 39weeks when we scheduled induction for a few days later due to gd. It was uncomfortable when she did it. Sucked ass the rest of the day and still got me absolutely nowhere. I still went in for my induction at 39w4d. I do think 38th week is a little early without medical need and/or trying for vbac. Oh and if they do it without consent, that a whole other world of issues for that doc.
