Pavilion G4 vs NextFit - anyone?

Has anyone already done the research on these two and care to give me the highlights?
Are they monstrously wide? Is the NextFit fabric really hot?  Any other pros/cons?
Also what is the best price you've seen for either?  Right now I'm seeing ~ $239 at Target for both with my Redcard, is that a good deal?

Re: Pavilion G4 vs NextFit - anyone?

  • Thanks!  I've had 2 keyfits and love Chicco as well, unfortunately the Nextfit wasn't available when my older two boys needed convertible seats.  I've always liked the Britax convertible seats though too so I'm torn.  Maybe I'll take Ben to try out a nextfit and see how I like it.  I seriously can't believe I'm buying ANOTHER carseat, I swear this makes at least 20 I've bought over the last 6 years!  I used to love to research them and compare, now I'm just like someone please tell me the best one so I can go buy it and move on!

  • I'm with you @FutureMrsCaesar‌ I just want someone to tell me which one is the best. A lot of people rec the Britax but I think I might go with something different just because the material of the Britax makes my LO sweat like crazy. He's already a little hothead... but still. He is soaked when I get him out of his Bsafe. Plus--- other than the steel frame--- I'm not positive why everyone goes for the Britax. I might just pay for Consumer Reports so I can see what they suggest.
We are leaning toward the Nextfit, and would possibly consider a Radian (but can't find a local store that carries them.) I had planned on going Britax due to all of the recommendations, however when DH and I were looking at them in person we disliked them. The main issues were that they are a shorter shell, so even though it has similar RFing weigh limits to the Nextfit and others, a taller kid could hit the the heigh limit sooner in the Britax (We are wanting to RF as along as possible and LO is measuring on the taller side currently.) We also thought that the seat part wasn't very comfortable due to very little padding in the seat cushion (personal preference.)

Consumer Reports rated the nextfit highest. They listed the Britax Roundabout as one of the "best values" and also recommended the Britax Marathon. (I just looked all this up in Sunday).

  • @rockiesnugget the Radians are really great, well-made seats.  Probably the most solid (and heavy!!) seat I've ever seen.  We currently have 2 for DHs car because we have to go 3-across.  They are not the most padded or cushy seats but my kids have never complained.  I wouldn't get them unless you foresee needing to 3 across at some point, just because for the price you can get something more comfy.  They also install easily (FF).  If you're on the fence you can always order from somewhere that has free return shipping or in-store returns, I got my last one at kohls.com, for ex.

Sold! Thank you! I was actually deciding between the Nextfit and the Diono Radian... do you happen to know where that one was on the list? Just curious.

If I went off looks/comfort alone, the Nextfit is the one I liked the best when trying my LO out at the store.

I agree with @RockiesNugget‌ the Britax just doesn't seem comfy or cushy enough and LO already hates the carseat. :/
I don't remember the radian. I looked at their top five recommended and then a couple others that friends recommended. Honestly most of the rating were really similar. I think this means there are no wrong answers when you're choosing one.
