Pregnant after IF

Discouraged, but Hopeful. Even my RE is feeling cautious...

I've been taking a bit of a bump break for the past few days as we had a pretty scary episode over the Labor Day weekend. I started bleeding early Sunday morning. :( My RE's office was really great and fit me in ASAP to see what was going on, but the news was not very reassuring. Baby was measuring on target (7w3d) but the hearbeat had gone way down to 101 bpm. They basically put me on bed rest and told me to call in if I had further bleeding, or experienced cramping, but otherwise to come back on Tuesday to check on things.

The rest of Sunday and Monday passed pretty uneventfully. Bleeding went to spotting and then stopped, no cramping, complete fear. So I went in today, news isn't very different. Baby measured 7w5d, and heart rate was steady, but only 121 bpm. My RE didn't look very happy and was honest that it could go either way right now. I'm trying my best to be optimistic but I have been worried about our heart rate since U/S #2, when the bpm only increased 10 in 6 days (Dr google says it should increase steadily 3bpm/day until about week 9). I know by now baby's heart rate should be past 145 bpm.

Has anyone else had this sort of experience? Did you make it out of 1st tri?

I don't know what to do, when this little life is fighting so hard to stick around, and there is nothing that I can do to help it. I can only pray.

Re: Discouraged, but Hopeful. Even my RE is feeling cautious...

  • I have no input on your situation, I just want to say I'm sorry you are in this tough spot :( T&Ps for your little bean to hang tough!

  • My situation wasn't exactly the same but at 8 weeks my LO's HR was 133. Almost a week before that it was 126. I always measured on track and never had any bleeding or spotting. So far so good. I was worried like you due to the small increase in HR and everyone else's LO's HRs seemed way higher. Hang in there. (((HUGS))).

  • Ugh, I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. ((hugs)) The only advice I would give is to stop googling. It's not going to help anything, and the information you find may or may not be applicable. It's so hard, but try to stay calm and positive. Lots of women have had worse news be turned around at the next scan. Will be thinking of you.

Sending some positive thoughts your way. My OB told me that the heart rate will vary baby to baby, but that anything between 120 and 180 was normal. Your bean measuring on track, and growing is a really positive sign - and that it went up, not down. Keep being optimistic and take care of yourself. Your little one is fighting hard!
