I haven't personally. But my cousin was recommended by her Dr to terminate her pregnancy due to its numerous chromosomal defects. She kept the baby, and she is perfectly healthy. I'm sorry you are stressing about this. Hugs
I am or was awaiting my nt scan results but they must be in by now im 18 weeks today but have decided im in love with the baby and whatever is ... Is and i will have no further testing or care what the results say .... Blissfully ignorant and loving it
No, him being 35 isn't a factor. Family history doesn't mean much, either, though, so far as there not being a family history of chromosomal abnormalities.
I hope you get good results in a couple of weeks. However, if the diagnosis is confirmed, there are a lot of wonderful resources out there, including connections to other moms who have children with Down Syndrome.
I had a "soft marker" on my A/S scan. I am still waiting for my blood test results I'm 21 weeks and would also keep my baby girl at this point. Feel free to PM of you need to talk.
I was elevated risk from the NT scan but had the Harmony test and all is well. If you search "nt scan" you should be able to find multiple threads in the topic. Happy to talk if you want! I felt pretty alone too.
Most women who are found to be at an increased risk based on screening tests (harmony and MaterniT21 type testing excluded) have healthy pregnancies. The screening tests are designed to cast a wide net so that very few pregnancies with Down syndrome or other chromosome problems are missed. The test is just meant to identify which women could benefit from diagnostic testing which more invasive or costly and this not offered to everyone.
As you get older the chance of a chromosome problem goes up. Family history rarely comes into play and the father's age doesn't impact the risk for chromosome problems either.
Hope you get good news. Sorry that you are going through a stressful wait right now until you can get more conclusive answers.

I could hold you for a million years
to make you feel my love.
A family friend was told that her baby had a high chance of down syndrome and other abnormalities where the baby would not be able to walk etc. they were so sure that they kept pushing her to terminate the pregnancy. This happened for both of her pregnancies and she now has 2 healthy kids. No down syndrome or any abnormalities.
@jenncallahan1 you can terminate as late as 20 weeks, maybe further. It's not something I would personally choose, but I thought you should know 18w4d isn't "too late". No, you can't get an abortion, but terminating for doctor-diagnosed medical reasons is allowed.

I was at risk for it and everything turned out fine at the next screening. I was worried as well but the ladies here kept reminding me that it's just a risk and the numbers aren't even always definite. Baby is healthy here and I'm happy for that but I'm sorry that you're stressing. There's really not much to do but wait and pray for the best! Stay relaxed for your baby
I'm so sorry that you have to go through this and all the stress while waiting..
My 1st baby had an extra marker/chromosome, and the doctor told me that he might have Trisomy 18 or commonly known as Edwards Syndrome. It was the worst news and the waiting time for the result was difficult. And of course the question/decision if we will terminate the pregnancy or not if the result is unfavorable. Of course we were hoping for the best but at the same time, our families were also trying to get more information about Edwards Syndrome - to prepare ourselves for the worst. The result came out and thankfully he's fine. He's now 2yrs old.
So don't lose hope.. I know it's difficult to stop worrying but try to be as positive as you can we'll be sending good vibes and prayers to you!
All of the tests make me nervous too! I am 35 and was very nervous about being "old" since that automatically puts me in the high risk area. My doctors has recommended pretty much every prescreening test and I was terrified while waiting for the results eact time but came back as no increased risk, so I hope the tests help you wil
This is my 5th baby, and im 30, which increases my risks...just feeling alone during the process sucks
Having babies before 30 lowers your risk in that if you're first was at 30 there would be a slightly higher chance than if your second was at 30y. That said, it's still stressful and upsetting to think not everything could be 100% perfect with your new baby. Personally I think everything happens for a reason and you aren't given more than you can handle.
I had a blood test come back positive for DS back in July. I saw a specialist on the 25th of August and had the Maternit21 results come back yesterday negative for DS.The initial testing give a lot of false positives. I'm 36 and pregnant with baby #5 so I am high risk all around.
It's not always bad news. Even if my baby would have had DS it wouldn't have changed anything for me. I just would have informed and educated myself on how to prepare for her arrival and what to expect in her first years of development. Good luck to you.
Nothing to add but I just want to say how scary it is that there are so many Mom's who receive the suggestion to terminate and have normal babies. Makes you think about what could have been for so many who choose to terminate. Hope everything is ok, if not you should know that your capacity for love and acceptance comes from a deeper place than you can even imagine now. Love to you and yours!
Re: Any moms test "high risk" ever for down syndrome and have baby be okay? :( feeling sad...
I hope your test results turn out well.
