To my boys: I will love you for you Not for what you have done or what you will become I will love you for you I will give you the love The love that you never knew
I googled it because there was no follow up. She was in a coma and on a ventilator and the hospital ruled she had brain damage and couldn't breathe on her own and they took her off life support. She started breathing and slowly woke up from the coma. According to the family she suffered no ill effects and was back to herself rather quickly.
As for her school placement and behavioral issues I couldn't find any follow up. I really hope this mom's desperation was a call to action for her family.
I'm not condoning her actions but I can easily sympathize with how desperate she must have been feeling at that moment. I really hope they don't give her life in prison. I'm sure she's suffered enough. What she needs is a social worker to help her intervene and manage her stress and her situation. I know that's probably easier said than done, but gosh, my heart broke for her. When I read on her blog that they had just gotten Issy home from residential treatment and the school district offered her a placement and then took it back and said they could either use their own methods or they could send her to a school far away that she had already been in and not meshed with, my heart broke for her. I couldn't imagine life like. Daily she wakes up and doesn't know if her own child is going to beat her or attack her until she needs to be hospitalized. And then the school district tells her "tough luck, we don't want her".
