June 2014 Moms

**Born to Run Junebugs**

This is a weekly thread for runners who were due June 2014, that is posted on Mondays. All who run--or who want to start running--are welcome, regardless of mileage, pace, ability, size, shape, or terrestrial status. We had this thread during pregnancy.

Now that baby is here I thought we could start this back up as I could use some extra motivation to start back running!

how were your runs and workouts this week?

how are you all dealing with recovery these days?

notice any major changes since having baby? your gate is different? weird pains?

  • Starting back Thursday and will check back in!

  • I wasn't part of this thread during pregnancy, but I am here now!

I went for my first run, 10 weeks pp, this weekend. I managed to go for 20 minutes without stopping! I don't think my gait was any different from having a baby, I think it was different because I am incredibly out of shape, haha. I did have a minor pain on my left groin/ pubis symphysis.
  • I started a couch to 5k today. We did 1.7mi this morning. It was the first time I jogged with the stroller and it was not as easy as I thought it would be, especially on the uphills!
  • I'm planning to go for my first run this coming weekend. And now that I've posted it, hopefully I'm more likely to follow through!
  • I am just starting to run and would love to join you guys. I am on week 5 of a couch to 5k program. I've never run before but thought it might be a good way to get back into shape post - pregnancy. I think it will be difficult to stay motivated once my leave is over so I am hoping having a thread to check into will help.
  • @ktcmama I ran a half 4 weeks pregnant as well. It was my 3rd year in a row running it and I felt so off. Now I know why!!

  • I haven't been able to run yet. I sprinted to the car one night with the stroller as the sky opened up on us, but that is it so far. I am trying to power walk for now. My knees haven't been right since delivery. I don't know what is wrong with them. Maybe they are screaming for me to lose this baby weight! So glad I started this thread back up as I went for a 2 mile walk tonight and it felt great! Have a great week!

  • @nicolewhelan‌ thanks for posting!!! I've been forgetting, and missing it so much!!
How were my runs: I started back last week, I ran 4 times. I didn't run for over 9 weeks (didn't have my apt until 7 weeks pp, then got Mirena so I had to wait) so I'm doing couch to 5k, just started in week 5.

Dealing with recovery: I'm eating a lot. I'm BFing and I am worried about my supply tanking.

    Changes: haven't noticed any, yet!!
  • Yayyyy!!!! I missed you bishes!!!

I started running again around 5 weeks pp (4ish weeks ago) and started strength training this week. So far I'm feeling good and really happy with how quickly I've been able to jump back into training mode. My longest run so far was 8.5 miles this past Saturday, and I'm all registered for my next half marathon this November.

how are you all dealing with recovery these days? I definitely need to work on stretching and hydrating. My body is taking the hit of running much more in my hips/groin than ever before so I'm still getting used to that. I can also tell I have a looong way to go as far as strength is concerned so I'm taking it slow with the weights for now.

So happy this thread is back! Thanks @nicolewhelan‌!

  • @babygabe614‌ so jealous at the miles you are running! WOW! =D> I had to stop running back when I was put on bed rest and I just now started "trotting"
    I'll get there ;)
  • @CAMag‌ have you tried couch to 5k? It works for me, much less intimidating!
  • I really wany to join in but I can not seem to find the time to exercise and I don't want to cut out sleep since I def don't get enough of it. I have been back at work since 6 weeks. DH will be going back in about a week when LO starts day care and I am worried we will never find the time for anything again. How are you guys finding time for exercise?

I just started back to work this week.  I am blessed to have a good sleeper, and a mom who lives a few minutes away.  I'm starting small, and not going too wild.  So far I'm going around 3 times per week (I run at the gym on the indoor track-Texas is too hot!).  I'm doing Couch to 5k, so the workouts are only about 30 minutes, which is almost too long when I am dying to get back to my baby girl, and also because I'm terrified of leaking all over my top...
