New Dad Gift?

So I know there has been many discussions on "push presents," but just wondering if anyone was planning on buying their SO a new dad gift?

I want to get DH something, but have no ideas. He's been so supportive through this whole pregnancy, and it's his baby too, so I'd love to have something ready to surprise him with.

That's a sweet idea.

Honestly, my DH wouldn't want anything (we're not big gift givers and he isn't a sentimental type person). My only present to him will be the babies I push out of my vagina (or the doctor pulls out of my abdomen).

I don't think I will do a gift, but I was planning on giving him a card. I totally sucked at Father's Day this year and didn't give him a card and feel bad about it! I actually have a FD card that I just never gave to him, so I'm planning on writing sweet stuff in it a few weeks before my due date and hiding it in my hospital bag to give him after LO arrives.

Our anniversary is around-ish when baby is due. So I may get him something nicer than usual as a combo anniversary/thanks-for-putting-up-with-my-hormotions gift.

I gave DH an "I

Dad" onesie and a pair of baby pumas at my shower for DS. He opened it when he came towards the end of the shower. I didn't get (or want!) a push present so nothing like that in return.

It is probably my bitchy pregnancy brain talking today but he is getting a baby, that is present enough for him..

On a serious note though, he has been so incredibly amazing taking care of me and being so sweet that it would be a good idea to get him at least a little "Thank you for putting up with my psycho self for the last 40 weeks" present. I will put some thought and see what I can come up with.

Yes, I was also thinking more along the lines of the "thanks for putting up with my pregnant ass" than the equivalent of a male push present. Maybe I worded that wrong. I just know he's been really sweet so I wanted to have something small prepared and wrapped in my hospital bag.

@ccam-I like the idea of the onesie for him to open at the shower! Did you say it was from you or future LO?

That's an idea.

My DH bought himself a bottle of Blue Label when we sold our "starter" house and bought our "family" house. He saved the last bit of it to celebrate when I got my BFP.

MAybe I should get him a bottle for when the babies are born? Probably not Blue $$$ but something a little nicer than what he normally buys

I got him a diaper backpack that I'm going to setup and stock for him. For Fathers Day. Got him scrubs that say "I'm the Daddy" seeing as I'm most likely having a C Section with these two munchkins

It isn't much but I have bought a "Dad" picture frame which I will put their first picture in and give it to him as soon as it is ready. I know pictures are something he appreciates so I think he will love it.

I think it's a sweet enough idea but he doesn't have to do much to deserve a gift! I mean he has been awesome but I kind of feel like that's the least he can do, right? Am I a monster?

This. Maybe I"m just a bish too… The idea of giving him a present aside from this LO had not occurred to me.

Although my DH has been awesome putting up with my greater than average craziness….I do think he has the better end of the deal. I remember in one low moment, where he was getting a little annoyed at my hormonal-ness, I shouted "You wouldn't last 5 minutes in my body right now. You have NO IDEA what this feels like." But mostly he's been amazing. He's going to be a great dad.

As a single mom, my sister is my 'other half' (without any creepy stuff, mind you!) For voluntarily going to all my big appointments, hospital tours, birthing classes, and for waiting on me hand and foot when I call her just to announce 'I'm hungry,' this girl deserves a 'round-the-world-cruise.' She doesn't even get the baby out of it.

(No money for the cruise... so off to think of other ideas)

I had to look up what a "push present" was too. I don't need one, though I do joke with hubby that I want a rare steak and a beer after l deliver. I did get DH a little Father's Day gift, the graphic novels "Darth Vader and Son" and "Darth Vader's Little Princess", since he's a huge Star Wars fan. I think if you want to get your partner something to celebrate the birth, that's really sweet of you. You probably know more what your man wants than I do!

I told DH I wanted a beer and an Italian hoagie. Those books are a good idea for him though... Especially since he teases our son is going to be named Luke Skywalker for his first and middle name.

for his new coffee maker so he won't have an excuse to fall asleep and can help with little one. He practically gets what he wants on a regular basis. plus I am going to take back over on the cat boxes shortly. **that is present enough**

It never gets old to have the hubby feel special especially after all the support during these few months of pregnancy. Of course is been beautiful and challenging for us as the "mother'a to be" but for them as we'll. just think of dealing with all your hormonal changes, it is not easy! My husband is planning my baby shower (I have no details, he said he wants me to be surprise.) How amazing is that? So I'm thinking of getting him a thank you card with a daddy shirt and picture frame for our first photos with our princess, and give it to him in out baby shower (in front of everyone) want to make him feel special. So I'll think is really not much of the gift just writing and expressing how thankful and In love you are with him for the great support. Hope it helps

I hadn't thought of that but like the idea. My challenge is that our anniversary is November 14th, his birthday is the 17th, baby is due the 22nd, and then there is Christmas...so I would then need four gifts (and thus four ideas). He hates combined "bigger" gifts because that's what his family has done his whole life.

I don't know what he'll get me as a "push gift," but know he'll get something. We've joked about the sapphire right hand ring I want, and he jokingly said maybe he'll get me the band for the first baby, a loose sapphire for the second, and then small diamond side stones for the third and fourth, because he really wants four kids. This is definitely not in our budget (just finished b-school so have mega-loans), but I know he'll get me something so I need to come up with some ideas.
