Screaming on changing table

Lately LO has been screaming bloody murder whenever we lay her down on the changing pad to change her diaper. It makes it extremely challenging of course, when she's arching her back, desperately trying to get off the pad---sigh. It doesn't happen everytime, but a lot lately. She does not have reflux and is fine laying down any other time really. I try to distract her with a toy or paci, but that doesn't always work. Anyone else? Or any suggestions?

  • I don't even use the changing pad anymore because LO will try biting on it. He turns immediately. Try a disposable changing liner on the bed and see if that works?
  • Lo does this too minus the screaming. Sometimes I give him a pair of pants to hold and that distracts him.
  • Thanks!! I think I may try the towel trick or may just need to change her on the bed-she's come close to hurting herself and banging her head on the wall :(
  • Full on wrestling match in this house for pretty much every diaper change! She's better earlier in the morning when she's still not fully awake, but by the end of the day it can take half hour to get a diaper and her clothes back on her! I do have one of these that keeps on her back in the cot, so might start trying it out at diaper time too :)

  • I change R in the crib a lot, for safety. He always tried to flip over and I'm worried he'll get out of my arms. 90% of the time I also end up putting his diaper on while he's on this tummy! or while he's standing. It's super annoying.

I know someone who started "potty training" both her boys are six months. I wish!

Wow 6 months?? that is impressive! And slightly puzzling as to how one might do that, lol

Wonder weeks talks about this. It's part of the relationship leap.

Thats interesting..I'll have to take a look at it. I had that app on my phone initially but wasnt finding it to be very accurate. May need to give it another chance

Yeah, I don't find the app very helpful, but I was looking at it over the weekend, mainly to decide whether I should delete it off my phone and read about that. Not sure it really helps, since it doesn't give you any tips to help ease the changing process, but it is nice to know that this is a normal part of things.

Oh definitely! I just read up on it and that phase should *hopefully* be ending soon. We will see!
