Help me feed my husband...

I know this is completely off topic but I need some help feeding my husband. He works construction so his lunch break is a 15 minute break they take while standing around. He has a cooler so cold foods are an option but nothing needing to be warmed up. I've been packing him sandwiches for months and he has to be tired of it by now but he's too appreciative so say anything... sweet guy. Any of you ladies have ideas aside from sandwiches and salads?

  • This may be better for fall, when it's not as hot, but when my DH was doing construction, I got a thermos for his lunchbox so he could have soups, burritos, leftovers, ect.

I was thinking maybe an insulated bag but he leaves at 4:30am and doesn't eat until around noon. I'm worried it won't stay warm that long.

Yes. They make thermos containers that can keep food hot for at least long enough until the typical lunch break. You just have to follow the instructions. With the one I have you have to preheat the container itself and then fill it with piping hot (not just warm) food.
  • Cold fried chicken! Yum!

  • What about wraps or crackers with kolbasa and cheese, or sandwiches made pitas, taco dip or other dips.

  • I find I can enjoy certain types of pizza cold.
  • If hes not complaining why are you worrying?  If its not working out for him he can say something or make his own lunch.  I work in an office and when i am not pregnant often eat a sandwich everyday at my desk or a salad as well.  I'm not sure why you are making an issue of it if hes not.

I just thought it would be nice to give him a little variety. No biggie.

  • I started to give my husbands goodies with a sandwich/wraps.. Mozzerella sticks or nuts or something to munch on. Try doing diff kinda of sandwich for each day. I used to do shredded chicken with diff sauces/celery so it wasn't as repetitive
  • My DH works construction. He can make his own damn lunch ...

But if that isn't what you were wondering, he really likes crackers and real cheese to eat as snacks throughout the day so he isn't famished. He also buys different meats for his sandwiches. He had one of the hot thermoses so he can bring chunkys soup and have a hot soup in the winter. Leftovers cold (homemade Mac n chs, fried chicken, pizza).

Salad if he is desperate. Taco salad if he is lucky.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought he can make his own lunch. It's nice that you do it but I wouldn't stress about it.

I made dh's lunch everyday until ds #2 was born and I haven't since. That way he chooses what goes in there. I really wouldn't stress. Im sure he's just thankful you do it for him.

No kidding...I'm lucky if I get my own lunch made.

I have a similar lunch situation (when the ute's not occupied) in that I often have to put a lunch in a backpack and eat whenever we stop hiking. There isn't a whole lot beyond sandwiches and wraps, but I occasionally just pack some good bread and cheese and an avocado and whatever else sounds good. I generally mix up the chips/veggies/sides for a little variety rather than the sandwich. If he's not complaining, I think you're overthinking this.
