breastfeeding and pooping

Moms who are breastfeeding -does you babe poop every time you change him/her? I know breast fed babies are supposed to poop a lot but my LO is 11 days old and is a pooping machine! I just wanted to check if this happens to everyone else!

Yep. She has at least a little poop at almost every diaper change. She has larger bowel movements a few times a day, but I call her a poop machine too. I had to change 2 poopy diapers at her doctors appointment today alone.

Hmmm... ours are always liquidy too... never "seedy". Also... this is probably a dumb question, but how do you know when you are "empty"? My LO will sometimes feed on one side for 30 or even 45 mins and still seems to be getting milk. Is there a trick to this, or is it just when baby gets mad?

Yup, mine's a poop machine. He also eats pretty frequently most of the time, so I go through many, many diapers. Although his poops are pretty liquid, there is also the seedy stuff so I think he's getting enough of both fore and hindmilk.

I have only changed a few diapers that were just pee. They may not always be big poops but there is usually a little in every diaper.

We pretty much always have some poop, and it's on the liquidy side of seedy. I'm fairly certain he gets enough hind milk tho since I only nurse on one side per session, and he drains me dry - breast goes from rock hard to limp as a noodle!

Ditto this. DD has a little poop in pretty much every diaper along with a couple poop-splosions.

We actually usually only have one poop a day and every once in a while she Erik skip a day. The dr. Said it was completely normal, but it still always makes me nervous when she skips a day.

My son was like this, and it was instant, he would nurse for like 2 good swallows and bam! Explosive noisy poop! My girl isn't nearly as predictable but I wish she was- she has more gas pains than my son did, and sometimes she poops after feeding/burp/wait for poop/diaper change... Which is fine during the day but sucks when it keeps her up at night waiting for it!

Absolutely! And even if it isn't a full on poop, she sharts. Lots and lots of sharts. Hell, half the time she sharts a clean diaper before I even get it on her!

I saw a change in poop frequency around week four. Before then, DS had a poopy diaper with every feeding. Now, he has one a day or every other day...they are pretty massive though.
