Welcome to September ladies! I am sure we are all equally as excited to be on the backside of all the GD business!
This check-in is for anyone with Gestational Diabetes or
those who have blood sugar levels that are high or low and could use the extra
support. Check-in is posted on Tuesdays.
Keep in mind that any
info shared here isn't meant to be medical advice and if you plan on
changing something to run it by your Dr. first-as most of these posts go
with the bump!
This is one link I found to have a pretty good explanation of GD!

Re: ~Gestational Diabetes Check In-9/2/2014~
How far along are you? 36 weeks, 5 days.
Management Method (diet/exercise or insulin/other medication): Still diet
Any upcoming appointments/tests (growth u/s, NST, etc) in the next week? I have a growth ultrasound and general OB appointment today. I am interested to see what the growth ultrasound shows. I feel huge, but apparently my fundal height tells a different story.
Anything you are struggling with or need help with? Any questions? Anything working well you'd like to share? I need to get back to being more strict-I've been snacking alot and I think it is spiking my sugar numbers. I have still only gone over a few times, but my overall numbers are higher than they have been.
GTKY: What are you looking forward to eating most post baby? I really want Chinese food. What I really am looking forward to is just not having to worry about what I am eating constantly and just be able to indulge in the not most healthy choices without feeling guilty! How far along are you? 38 weeks
Management Method (diet/exercise or insulin/other medication): diet
Any upcoming appointments/tests (growth u/s, NST, etc) in the next week? NST/Fluid US/OB appt Friday as usual
Anything you are struggling with or need help with? Any questions? Anything working well you'd like to share?
Just doing my thing. My fingers still hate me. I've been adding snacking because i'm a hungry hungry hippo in the morning. but my BS levels seem fine. I just can't figure out what will spike it. Big pasta dinner I'm fine, I have chicken and dumplings - not fine.
GTKY: What are you looking forward to eating most post baby?
cereal for breakfast. SO SICK OF EGGS. Also on my list - pizza, oatmeal, wine...
And blueberries! My parents have 3 blueberry bushes, we froze 7 gallon bags of them. I eat them all winter in my oatmeal, muffins, pancakes etc. I might start a stash and freeze them soon. I heard oatmeal was good for BFing. skinnytaste.com has an amazing oatmeal blueberry muffin.
Regular OB appt tomorrow and preregistration at the hospital today that I was suppose to do at 30 weeks. Oops.
Thinks have been going ok. I cannot have a bread and fruit combination at breakfast. I gave it a try and that was a no-go, which makes me sad because I have been loving green grapes. Other than that, the nutritionist said everything looks ok and she didn't recommend meds last week but I see her again on the 10th.
I want to eat bread, muffins, pancakes, all the delicious carby food that I have stayed away from for the last months. I found a recipe for blueberry cream overnight oatmeal for my kids in the mornings before school. It is SO good. I'm excited for that also. Pinterest has become my middle of the night, can't sleep entertainment. It's a love/hate relationship.
How far along are you? 36 w 4days
Management Method (diet/exercise or insulin/other medication): I am on 2.5 glyburide at breakfast and dinner. That might go up to 5mg at some point this week.
Any upcoming appointments/tests (growth u/s, NST, etc) in the next week? I have an NST today, OB appt on Thursday and then NST, BPP and growth scan on Saturday. Really interested to see how big this little guy might be. All of this will probably determine what my Dr's plan is for me. If we end up in L&D for decels agian she will induce this week. If not, all of it will play into how long she wants me to go. Right now the plan is to induce between 38 and 39 weeks.
Anything you are struggling with or need help with? Any questions? Anything working well you'd like to share? My numbers have been up and down for no reason. MFM said we'll see how it goes this week before increasing dosages. My OB said while she doesnt like to see the increasing numbers, it isnt all bad because it means my placenta is not dying off and is still doing what its got to do.
GTKY: What are you looking forward to eating most post baby? Ummmm EVERYTHING haha. I would say Chinese for sure, also Pasta, pasta and more pasta. I still plan on trying to be good once my baby is born. Ill be down close to 25lbs from pre preg weight and I know that for me a diet lower in carbs is just better for me, so I hope to keep some of the good habits.First BPP 1.24.14

Anything you are struggling with or need help with? Any questions? Anything working well you'd like to share? Everything is getting easier.

Any upcoming appointments/tests (growth u/s, NST, etc) in the next week? OB appt Wednesday and I think he wants to do a NST soon. He said he would start them at 36 weeks.
Anything you are struggling with or need help with? Any questions? Anything working well you'd like to share? I've had weird spikes for no apparent reason, but whatever. I'm kind of indifferent to them now. Before I would cry hysterically because I thought I was harming the baby, but I know now that spikes happen. Overall, my numbers are good.
GTKY: What are you looking forward to eating most post baby? I'm looking forward to not feeling like I'm playing Russian Roullette when I eat. Also, ICE CREAM, pasta, chocolate, and a BIG sweet frap!!BFP#1 4/17/2013 EDD 12/25/2013, MC 5/17/2013 8 weeks 3 days D&C 5/18/2013

Yes, the Dr. was pleased with the 40%-except her head and belly were larger I guess-she said that is typical of a GD baby.
