~Gestational Diabetes Check In-9/2/2014~

Welcome to September ladies! I am sure we are all equally as excited to be on the backside of all the GD business!

This check-in is for anyone with Gestational Diabetes or those who have blood sugar levels that are high or low and could use the extra support. Check-in is posted on Tuesdays.

Keep in mind that any info shared here isn't meant to be medical advice and if you plan on changing something to run it by your Dr. first-as most of these posts go with the bump!

This is one link I found to have a pretty good explanation of GD!

Now the questions-

How far along are you?

Management Method (diet/exercise or insulin/other medication):

Any upcoming appointments/tests (growth u/s, NST, etc) in the next week?

Anything you are struggling with or need help with? Any questions? Anything working well you'd like to share?

GTKY: What are you looking forward to eating most post baby?

Re: ~Gestational Diabetes Check In-9/2/2014~

  • How far along are you? 36 weeks, 5 days.

Management Method (diet/exercise or insulin/other medication): Still diet

Any upcoming appointments/tests (growth u/s, NST, etc) in the next week? I have a growth ultrasound and general OB appointment today. I am interested to see what the growth ultrasound shows. I feel huge, but apparently my fundal height tells a different story.

Anything you are struggling with or need help with? Any questions? Anything working well you'd like to share? I need to get back to being more strict-I've been snacking alot and I think it is spiking my sugar numbers. I have still only gone over a few times, but my overall numbers are higher than they have been.

GTKY: What are you looking forward to eating most post baby? I really want Chinese food. What I really am looking forward to is just not having to worry about what I am eating constantly and just be able to indulge in the not most healthy choices without feeling guilty!

Just doing my thing.  My fingers still hate me.  I've been adding snacking because i'm a hungry hungry hippo in the morning. but my BS levels seem fine.  I just can't figure out what will spike it.  Big pasta dinner I'm fine, I have chicken and dumplings - not fine.

GTKY: What are you looking forward to eating most post baby?

cereal for breakfast.  SO SICK OF EGGS.  Also on my list -  pizza, oatmeal, wine...

And blueberries!  My parents have 3 blueberry bushes, we froze 7 gallon bags of them. I eat them all winter in my oatmeal, muffins, pancakes etc.  I might start a stash and freeze them soon.  I heard oatmeal was good for BFing.  skinnytaste.com has an amazing oatmeal blueberry muffin.

  • 36 weeks yesterday and still diet controlled!

Regular OB appt tomorrow and preregistration at the hospital today that I was suppose to do at 30 weeks. Oops.

Thinks have been going ok. I cannot have a bread and fruit combination at breakfast. I gave it a try and that was a no-go, which makes me sad because I have been loving green grapes. Other than that, the nutritionist said everything looks ok and she didn't recommend meds last week but I see her again on the 10th.

I want to eat bread, muffins, pancakes, all the delicious carby food that I have stayed away from for the last months. I found a recipe for blueberry cream overnight oatmeal for my kids in the mornings before school. It is SO good. I'm excited for that also. Pinterest has become my middle of the night, can't sleep entertainment. It's a love/hate relationship.

  • How far along are you?  36 w 4days

Management Method (diet/exercise or insulin/other medication):  I am on 2.5 glyburide at breakfast and dinner.  That might go up to 5mg at some point this week.

Any upcoming appointments/tests (growth u/s, NST, etc) in the next week?  I have an NST today, OB appt on Thursday and then NST, BPP and growth scan on Saturday.  Really interested to see how big this little guy might be.  All of this will probably determine what my Dr's plan is for me.  If we end up in L&D for decels agian she will induce this week.  If not, all of it will play into how long she wants me to go.  Right now the plan is to induce between 38 and 39 weeks.

Anything you are struggling with or need help with? Any questions? Anything working well you'd like to share?  My numbers have been up and down for no reason.  MFM said we'll see how it goes this week before increasing dosages.  My OB said while she doesnt like to see the increasing numbers, it isnt all bad because it means my placenta is not dying off and is still doing what its got to do.

GTKY: What are you looking forward to eating most post baby? Ummmm EVERYTHING haha.   I would say Chinese for sure,  also Pasta, pasta and more pasta.  I still plan on trying to be good once my baby is born.  Ill be down close to 25lbs from pre preg weight and I know that for me a diet lower in carbs is just better for me, so I hope to keep some of the good habits.

  • How far along are you? 40 Weeks!

Management Method (diet/exercise or insulin/other medication): NPH for fasting and diet/exercise

Any upcoming appointments/tests (growth u/s, NST, etc) in the next week? I had NST today and dr appt. Both went well. Still the same. Dr is talking induction on Friday. I am not sure how I feel about that.

Anything you are struggling with or need help with? Any questions? Anything working well you'd like to share? Everything is getting easier.

GTKY: What are you looking forward to eating most post baby? Pie and really eating whenever I want instead of watching the clock.

  • Hey ladies!!  I love that we all are getting so close!  I wish all of you a smooth and easy delivery!  :)

How far along are you? 36 weeks 2 days

Management Method (diet/exercise or insulin/other medication): Diet

Any upcoming appointments/tests (growth u/s, NST, etc) in the next week? OB appt Wednesday and I think he wants to do a NST soon.  He said he would start them at 36 weeks.

Anything you are struggling with or need help with? Any questions? Anything working well you'd like to share? I've had weird spikes for no apparent reason, but whatever.  I'm kind of indifferent to them now.  Before I would cry hysterically because I thought I was harming the baby, but I know now that spikes happen.  Overall, my numbers are good.

GTKY: What are you looking forward to eating most post baby? I'm looking forward to not feeling like I'm playing Russian Roullette when I eat.  Also, ICE CREAM, pasta, chocolate, and a BIG sweet frap!!

    BFP#1 4/17/2013 EDD 12/25/2013, MC 5/17/2013 8 weeks 3 days D&C 5/18/2013

    BFP#2 1/20/2014 EDD 9/28/2014, Baby Evie born on 9/23/2014 at 8:50pm.  6 lbs 15 oz!

    Lilypie Angel and Memorial tickers

  • Well I had my growth scan today. She is estimated at 6.5 pounds, so 40th percentile at almost 37 weeks. The bad news, she is sunny side up-like I kind of thought. I am also 3 cm dilated and 70% effaced...sooooo I could be having a baby sooner rather than later.

  • How far along are you? 39 weeks today !!

Management Method (diet/exercise or insulin/other medication): diet/exercise and insulin at night for fasting still but it's almost done

Any upcoming appointments/tests (growth u/s, NST, etc) in the next week? Had a dr, NST and BPP appointments today - finally got a good view of baby girls face

Anything you are struggling with or need help with? Any questions? Anything working well you'd like to share? No struggles just finally over all this GD monitoring I'd love to wake up and not test

GTKY: What are you looking forward to eating most post baby? I cannot wait to eat chicken parmigiana and spaghetti (the white kind no whole grain or wheat) and italian bread

Hope all you ladies are feeling well - we're almost there

How far along are you? 39 weeks 1 day (Holy Cow...I can't believe I've made it this far!)
Management Method (diet/exercise or insulin/other medication): diet and insulin (15 units at bedtime)

Any upcoming appointments/tests (growth u/s, NST, etc) in the next week? Had my last NST/biophysical yesterday during pre-OP testing. Drs were concerned about placenta integrity and how baby was doing bc my sugars have been hard to control the last two weeks.

Anything you are struggling with or need help with? Any questions? Anything working well you'd like to share? I found new Greek yogurt ice cream bars---they have few carbs and extra protein. Wrk well for my numbers and my ice cream fix.

GTKY: What are you looking forward to eating most post baby? Hmmmm....I need a chocolate bar of some sort. And a chocolate milkshake. Although, I learned the first time around....the things we crave now bc we can't have them don't seem nearly as appealing after when we can eat them as they did when we colony have them!

Try sitting on a birthing ball while you are at home relaxing, supposedly it puts your hips and baby in a good position for them to turn from Sunny Side up.    Nice job on the 40th percentile baby, im sure your Dr will be happy with that :-)

I plan on busting out the birth ball during nap today and trying alot of the spinning babies recommendations during nap today! I am hopeful it helps.

Yes, the Dr. was pleased with the 40%-except her head and belly were larger I guess-she said that is typical of a GD baby.

Hello, I'm new to this group but I'd love to join. I really a place to vent to someone who understands! How far along are you? 34+5 Management Method (diet/exercise or insulin/other medication): just got put on Glyburide, .75 mg before lunch Any upcoming appointments/tests (growth u/s, NST, etc) in the next week? Just had an appt this'd morning, both babies are head down, everything looks good except the darn blood sugars keep creeping up. Anything you are struggling with or need help with? Any questions? Anything working well you'd like to share? I need a way to cope with my ignorant husband who keeps bringing all the things I want to eat so bad in the house and then trying to monitor me or something. I swear he is great in every other way except this. We've already had a fight about cookies (sounds so funny) but then I ended up apologizing because I felt silly for getting so mad. All I have been talking about is my cravings and how I can't wait toast this and that, and then he brings it home and expects me to be fine with hit! Ugh! Am I expecting too much? GTKY: What are you looking forward to eating most post baby? Everything! A big sandwich on a big roll, chips, and a giant piece of cake :)
