Childcare vent!

We have just lost our FOURTH sitter in less than a month WHATTT THEEE FUUCKKKK!
The first two flaked for their interviews. The third flaked during an interview because she didn't realize we only needed her part time (can you read?!?)
The fourth just text me (EFFING TEXT! YOU CANT EVEN CALL?!?) to inform me that she had accepted a full time position with another family.

I'm so beyond annoyed right now. DH and I cannot afford to take time off until we find someone. Our only reliable option right now lives an hour away. I'm so sick of the flakes. It's unwanted stress for DH and I. It's unfair to DD who has to keep getting used to new people.

Grrrrr!

Re: Childcare vent!

  • Where are you looking for your sitters? I just had some massive trouble trying to find a cleaner and multiple women flaked on us too. Is a daycare/nursery possible for you guys at all?
  • Loading the player...
  • How frustrating!!

  • We're looking on care.com. Unfortunately we only need someone for 10 hours/week so daycare isn't an option (financially.) We boarder a college town, but we can't find anyone with newborn experience. Most seem to think that a 1 year old and a newborn are the same.
  • Do you know anyone else who might be able to do a nanny/sitter share with you?

  • What area do you live in?

  • No unfortunately we're living on the west side of the city and all our family and friends are on the east side.

We have emergency childcare lined up, but is a logistical nightmare. I think I could only do it for a week or so lol
  • For newborns you will more than likely have to have a center care for them and pay the full time rate. It is very hard to find a childcare willing to accept a nb with part time pay due to age and care requirements. I know this sucks... As a daycare provider, I only accept ages 2+ due to the face that I teach a curriculum and caring for more than my own nb would interrupt that process. Centers have specially trained people in the areas of infants to care for your sweety.

  • I use care.com too. (You can find promo codes online to make it cheaper). I found my sitter there (we have long hours and a varying schedule each week), but had several people actually interested.

It might be worth a shot for you! Good Luck!!!
