S/O Xmas - train tables

Dagny loves train tables. I've been looking into them thinking Thomas since those sets seem well made and will hold up well but holy crap they are expensive!! $200 for JUST the table?? So what do you ladies recommend? Are the Thomas tracks superior to cheaper brands? I know it's early but if the train idea will be too expensive I need to find an alternate gift idea...

  • @bellaxanthe‌ Ikea has train tables? I've never been to Ikea but would make the trek to purchase a reasonably priced table...

  • Cute pic @lainikins‌ !

Thanks ladies - I forgot about Craigslist! There are a bunch listed so I think I should be able to find a table and then request track sets from grandparents. I wanted one "toy" that they could all buy for so we don't end up with a bunch of small junk KWIM?

  • Ben has the Melissa and Doug table, and it's very nice, but he hardly uses it because he has more track than can fit on the table. As far as the track itself, we have GeoTrax and LOVE them! I think they grow with the kids a lot better than wooden push sets because they also have remote control pieces, which the older kids enjoy. He pushes them sometimes and uses the remote sometimes. They also have race car track sets, and they will all hook togetrt if you want them to. Much more versatile IMO!
