TTC After a Loss

wwyd: bridemaid in a summer wedding and ttc

I'll be in a wedding at the very end of the summer (labor day weekend). We will be ordering our bridesmaid dresses by the end of the month. DH and I are TTC, however due to my ectopic & a tube being removed, along with knowing how long it took TTC DC and TTC for preg #2 (ectopic), maybe I won't be preg. by then. However, I'm trying to be optimistic in thinking maybe I could get preg in the next couple of cycles.

Do I bring it up to the bride that I am TTC and let her know I'd like to wait to order my dress until maybe March or April (depending on the deadline for dresses, whenever the store would recommend, obviously)? My thinking in waiting would be that IF IF IF I would get a BFP this next cycle, I would be about 8 mo preg. for the wedding--obviously needing a bigger size dress than I am currently measuring! Or, do I just not worry about it, order the size I need now, and if I get a BFP prior to the wedding, just try to order one at that point (if needed)?

Today has just been a tough day for me (emotionally thinking about the ectopic), so for some reason, this just seems to be tough thing to think about at the moment.

  • I completely understand why this is stressful for you.  It's such a difficult thing to think about because you just don't know what to do!  Most stores don't like ordering dresses separately because then the dresses come out of different dye lots and could be different shades.  If I were you, I'd go and get fitted at the end of this month and order your dress 1 or 2 sizes larger.  If you get your BFP, you'd have an easier time of letting it out to accommodate your baby bump.  If you don't, you could easily take the dress in.  Hopefully the bride opts for a flowing empire-waist gown and then all your troubles will be gone!  GL to you, I really hope you have to go with the "letting out" option.

Great advice, I think this sounds like a good option for you. Try not to stress too much about it.

  • I'd talk w/ the bride and explain. She'll probably let you wait to order and then you can order a larger dress or even a maternity dress. You might be able to order extra fabric for the dress and the seamstress should be able to work around a growing belly.

Extra fabric was suggested to me when I was in your shoes a while back. The bride let us pick our own dresses (not sure if your friend is doing this) so I found a dress that would be quite easy to alter w/ the extra fabric if needed.

    GL!
