Update (loss mentioned): 5 Weeks, HCG 8,000....Ultrasound showed sac, but that is all.

Morning, ladies! I am very nervous right now and hope someone has experience with this. I know 5 weeks is early to have an u/s, but I am high risk due to my age (39), Clomid use and the fact that I only have one tube. I had a previous ectopic pregnancy that resulted in emergency surgery to stop internal bleeding and I lost my right tube in the process. I did have a healthy pregnancy resulting in my daughter AFTER the ectopic.

My HCG was 8,000 yesterday morning. As of yesterday, I was exactly 5 weeks since day 1 of my last MP. I got an ultrasound and we could see the gestational sac, but no yolk, etc. I've never had such an early u/s, so I'm not used to this uncertainty. I think my HCG levels are really good. Top of the scale for 5 weeks. However, I'm nervous about just seeing a sac.

Anyone have experience with this? Thank you. Thank you!!!!!

I am having something similar. I went in for first us last Thursday and was 6 weeks 4 days from LMP. But they could only see the sac on the us and it was measuring 4 weeks 5 days. My doctor said that all we can do is wait a week and do another us. If baby still doesn't show then it is possible that it never really developed. I know how scared and worried you are. I am too. I hope for the both of us it's just to early to see our little ones.

Good luck to both of you! I had this and was two blighted ovum's:( BUT...don't get worried my levels never doubled properly and never got above like 1500...so there is hope for both of you!

Thank you all. Good luck, Wilkat. Let us know what happens. For me, my OB is happy with my HCG results. She would like me to come back on Thurs/Fri for a follow up ultrasound. I'll be just at 6 weeks then, so we'll certainly know by then. (I hope!)

I'm just TERRIFIED of another ectopic, so frankly I'm kind of annoyed they performed such an early u/s on me. All it has caused is extreme worry. :-( Sigh. Trying to stay positive!

I think the fact that your hCG so high is good. I had mine done the week before the us and the were 259 to 707 in 48 hours. Which the doctor seemed to think was good. I am just trying to stay busy and pray it all works out. Good luck Laurakaz13

I had an ultrasound at 6 weeks 6 days and my RE told me it looked like the heart had just started beating it was a super low HR closer to 100 BPM now she's a thriving 1YO. So I would say it was just too soon! GL to you!

Hey there Laurakaz13 - I have been thinking of you! I want to tell you that I went back today for a second us and was finally able to see a heartbeat so I have big hopes for you too! I think like me you probably were just too early when they did the first u/s. I hope you are doing well and will continue to pray for you! Keep us posted!

Hi there - I have suffered through several miscarriages, blighted ovum, etc -- With my current pregnancy I was a nervous wreck for the first 12 weeks. I went for an ultrasound at 5 weeks and my HCG levels were normal/great like yours and the dr could only see a sac, just like you. I am now 22 weeks pregnant, and everything is fine. He had me come back 2 weeks later and the ultrasound was just fine! So I hope everything turns out for you, too.

Thanks, ladies! I haven't felt up to coming back here. Sadly, my pregnancy did not develop. There was never a fetus that could be seen. At 7 weeks, we scheduled my D&C but I started naturally miscarrying this weekend.

I'm okay. I'm just ready to go see my RE and figure out what the next step is. This is my first miscarriage ever, and I'm surprised how strong I feel about just moving on. I appreciate all the support and will hopefully be back. In the meantime, I'm going to go hug the perfect daughter I already have and be thankful for her!

Congrats wilkat2009! I am sending all my good thoughts your way! A heartbeat is a great, great sign!
