Secondary IF

Introduction PCOS/HA onto Injectables!

Hello
I am new to this whole thing looking for some support with everything I'm going through  I am 25 and DH is 27.  I have a beautiful daughter who was conceived naturally.  We are suffering from all female factor secondary IF.  After trying several rounds of clomid through my ob/gyn, all the way to 150mg i was referred to a fertility specialist.  She than had me do two rounds on clomid , 5 day cycle and a 10 day cycle.  Neither worked, did not even ovulate (clomid resistance).  She diagnosed me with a mixture of HA with mild pcos.  (I am average weight for my size, but worked out a lot and we are possibly linking that to my HA).  I than moved on the letrozole which did not make me ovulate either.  After taking a month mental break, we are back on board with injectables this month!  I am taking menopur 75 IU daily and will being using ovidrel with TI. So far the menopur is nothing compared to the side effects I had on clomid!  Thank god!  Looking for any positivity with menopur?  What was everyone else's experiences like with injectables? And just looking for some overall support.

Re: Introduction PCOS/HA onto Injectables!

  • Yes, Clomid side effects are pretty horrible. Positive notes on Menopur? I used it in conjunction with follistim for my 2 IVF cycles, both times I responded fairly well (8 mature the first cycle, 11 mature 2nd cycle) but I also always responded very well with Clomid- I don't think you will notice many side effects with the Menopur aside from maybe a bit of bloating? They work differently, and Clomid tends to make people a little nuts.

How old is your daughter and how long have you been TTC #2?

    Good luck

  • thanks for the feedback!!  I am still trying to figure out how to navigate this site, its a little confusing, wasn't sure if i started posting in the right forum.
My daughter is 5 years old as of August 7th.  I have been trying to conceive for 13 months.  I stopped ovulating all together a little over a year after I had my daughter.  No periods, nothing... at all, unless chemical induced (provera).   So when we started trying my OB said all we would need was some assistance , well... not the case didn't respond to clomid , RE had me try clomid for for two months under her guidance and than letrozole.. nothing ,  so onto bigger, better and more expensive things!
I am currently cd 6 and on my third day of menopur, i have a little bloating ,but aside from that nothing.  I have a follow up follicular u/s tomorrow am along with a estradiol lab.  Hoping I don't have to increase doses and I don't take long to stim (all OOP-- thankfully walgreens our pharmacy offers a discounted price for OOP costs, even that is expensive $900 for just this little bit we have to start off , although i know that doesn't touch IVF costs and even some injectable cycle costs)

Menopur , the little sucker does burn though!!

Clomid did make me nuts!! My headaches were out of this world and bloating! I felt like my ovaries were going to burst sometimes! but never responded

  • Welcome good luck, I'm on an injectible cycle this month with Gonal
F, definitely less side effects but be sure to drink tons of water! Hope you get some better results this cycle.

TTC#1 May 2009- July 2010 on our own with no luck

Started with RE in August 2010, dx with unexplained IF and then finally our 3rd IUI cycle using Follistim and Trigger resulted in our wonderful little man.  Born 12/2/11

TTC#2 Never really prevented, but were careful early on as Dr. reccomended

Surprise BFP 12/16/13, started progesterone immediately as first numbers came back low, but betas were good.  Progesterone wasnt enough. Natural MC 12/24/13.

Back with RE as of January 2014...

    5/27/14- Chemical Pregnancy :(

    April 2015 IVF#1

    5/13/15- BFP, please stick LO!

    Good luck.
