Good morning ladies,
DH has an aunt who lives about an hour away and our visits with her consists of her calling and asking him to do work around her house. The last two non "fix this is my house" calls were about a BBQ but upon arrival he was asked to BBQ for the whole party.
Anyway, she text me inviting us to a BBQ and after seeing it was on lo's first birthday I responded that I'd have to discuss it will DH bc we has plans for lo's birthday. She responded with "seriously? It's just that (niece) birthday is during the week so this is the day we chose to do it. LO is more than welcome to share the day with her."
I don't want lo to share her first birthday with a ten year old. I don't want to drive an hour to their house to watch my husband BBQ for her friends and then do a nod to the baby in the house that it's her birthday too . I want to just stick to our plans and leave it at that. I know someway this is going to blow up in my face bc "they're family" and that's the reason to just do what they want. Ugh

Re: FFFC - yes it's early, but I already have one
My confession is that my H is sick and seems to have a pulled muscle so every time he moves, he groans. Every time he groans, I want to put a pillow over his head and smother him in his sleep. But E has also not slept great this week and has been extra fussy and into things. So I admit, my sleep deprivation could be a contributing factor to my lack of patience (not that it is great to begin with).
I would feel weird about going and hijacking a 10 year old's birthday party. If niece invited other guests that aren't as close to LO, wouldn't they feel weird about showing up with a gift for niece, but no gift for LO?
It sounds like you guys cave with her all the time. If you don't wanna do it, don't do it.

FTM to my sweetpea Miss D.
Eta: I love them charred! Yes, on fire, blown then blown out quick and it's perfect!
Sorry but no UO. I can never think of one when the thread is started.
I've never eaten a smore before!! :-S
I do marshmallows in fire most of the time. The whole center has to be melted is my only requirement.
I'd never heard of golden birthday until the other day. Mine was my 1st, I'm sure my parents never heard of it.
I think you all are missing out. S'mores are 100% delicious. Sometimes I crave them and think about making them over the stove at home. Yum. =P~
Also, on the s'mores thing. The only way I like them is in the oven. If you put the graham crackers on a cookie sheet with the chocolate on them, then the marshmallows they are delish. The marshmallow is the perfect amount I toastiness, the chocolate melts and the whole thing is warm. Put the oven on broil and put them in for like 2 minutes:)
