Well this mornings appointment went as well as expected.
The pain I have been experiencing on my tailbone while sitting (and sometimes sleeping) is due to an imbalance in the sacrum, pelvis, and the coccyx. It was mentioned that this might also be why I am having sciatic nerve pain. Probably wasn't good when the first comment I hear during the evaluation was, "This is really jacked up... you probably should have come in sooner".
To help with the pain I am going to be in physical therapy 2x a week, exercise is limited to walking, and I get to use this contraption which DH has lovingly nicknamed, "the human cone of shame". To make this more palatable I am getting a spare pillow case to cover up the ugly yellow orange.
I'm not laughing. I need one of those. I have been desk bound all day, and just shifted my position. I wanted to cry from the pain. It's bad even if I get up regularly.
@twolittledogs - Oh no... I am sorry you are having pain as well. I picked this one up at the drug store but I saw that Amazon has a bunch of them for cheaper.
Yikes, a new thing to drag around with you. Were you at a PT or a chiropractor? Something else?
I've been seeing a chiropractor and she has commented a few times on the sacrum often being a source of pain in pregnancy.
Prescription came from the OB. They have a pelvic floor specialist but the specialist is only in 1x a week so I am going to an outside PT company that I am familiar with. I have significant airline travel coming up in the next 1.5 months so I wanted the extra session during the week.
I would love a donut cone of shame!! I'm having the same issue and it is miserable. I'm currently starting a new job and between 8 hours of sitting at a desk and a 3 hour round trip drive, my butt/tailbone hurts SO bad. As for exercise, squats are out of the question and even incline walking seems to hurt. Booooo!!!
@twolittledogs You and I are on the same boat. I'm going to see if I can get a prescription for one of those next appointment. I usually end up testing how bad its going to hurt before I stand up at work and have to deal with the trailing stares as I waddle my way to the bathroom. It sucks so bad. SO. BAD.
I sit on one of those! I have one for home & one for work. I wish my OB would prescribe PT. I went to a PT a couple of times but quit going because I'm afraid insurance won't pay for it. Hope your appointments go well & you find sone relief!
I did call my insurance. They said it is covered if it is "medically necessary". Well WTH does that mean? I just have a feeling they won't think my hip pain & coccyx pain is "medically necessary". I haven't got an EOB yet or a bill from the PT yet so not sure the appts I did go on were covered or not. My OB was supposed to send in a referral to the PT but I don't think that is the same as a RX in the world of insurance. But it doesn't hurt to ask my OB for a RX to a PT even though I've mentioned my hip pain @ several appts & you would think they wld get a clue I'd like some help with my pain! Sorry, kind of went on a rant there. I just haven't had good experience with insurance covering my chiropractic needs or PT needs in the past.

I had to get one of those during the first trimester when I had an anal fissure. Now it comes in handy for the sciatica around 2 pm when I've been sitting in meetings at my desk all day. Plus, the girls like sitting on it, so it's fun for the whole family!
I'm sorry about your pain, though. I had bad sciatica with both girls, and a few years ago it got so bad I could hardly move. I got about 6 months of therapy at my chiropractors and it was the only thing that allowed me to function again. Good luck and I hope you can get rid of this pain in the ass.

I cried I laughed so hard. I'm sorry you have to use that but it looks comfy!

Thank you!!! Those are totally incognito too, I love it!
