Hey everyone, I just wanted to see how much your little ones were eating at how many weeks.

My LO is almost 3 weeks and is eating 3 oz every 3 hours.

ETA: he was 9 lb at birth

@mandyjimmy‌ OK good to know I don't have the only big one eating more! Lol I'll try 3.5 oz and see if he continues to eat. He still isn't sleeping longer than 3 hours at night and during the day sometimes eats 3 oz every 2 hours.

My LO was 7lbs 3 oz at birth. was only taking 2 ounces every 2-3 hours for about 1 1/2 weeks.  She is two weeks tomorrow and now takes 3 oz nearly every time. She usually gives me 3 hours stretches during the day which I sometimes wake her to feed, only to keep days and nights not mixed, and then longer stretches at night. I only knew to give her more because one night she just kept rooting after a feed, and when I laid her down she fussed and tossed and turned for the two hours.  The next feed I gave her an ounce more. Made me nervous, I was afraid of making her sick, but that night was the first night she slept a longer time. So I knew I did the right thing.  I'm wondering when she should start wanting more again....but we have a pedi app on the 4th.

God, my LO is a little piggy! He puts away sometimes 5oz a feeding which is usually every 2.5-3 hours. But usually he eats 3.4-4.5 oz. I asked the pediatrician if I'm feeding him too much and he said b/c he's healthy, just keep it under 32oz a day. Works for me.
He is 3 weeks old and we are EPing

Good article on kellymom.com for those pumping breast milk. I have no clue how much comes out when I BF so I didn't know how much to give when we bottle feed it. The other day DH gave DS total of 200mL within one hour. I couldn't believe it! He said DS kept sucking so he thought why stop. Luckily DS didn't have too many issues but that's when I started researching. This entry was very helpful!

General rule I think is 2.5oz per pound of weight per day. So if you have a 7lb baby they would be expected to eat 17.5oz a day. We started at 2oz and just kept going up as she wanted. If she seemed hungry after 2oz then we would make more and see what she would eat. Eventually we were making 2.5oz bottles and now we are at 3oz. She is 3 weeks today. She usually eats every 3 hours.

This has been one of the hardest things for me to figure out. I had done a ton of research on BFing and felt prepared, but when we started FFing I was so worried about under or overfeeding him.

Right now he's 3 1/2 weeks and around 9 1/2 lbs (just under). Dr told us the 2.5 oz per weight rule, too. If I give him 3 oz, he still seems hungry but if I give him 4, he usually spits up. We finally settled on Dr. Brown bottles, and now he spits up less (and now hardly burps!) but about a half hour after a bottle, he's super fussy. He's also waking up crying after he's already fast asleep. We keep him upright after eating, but I'm worried he might have reflux or that this formula is hurting his belly. He only poops once every 4 days, but dr said that's ok.

Also, his lips are always red after a bottle...i think he doesn't put them in the right spot, but I don't know how to teach him otherwise.

Sorry that got a little off topic, but, anyone ever deal with any of these issues?

@CapsFan52‌ I was having same issue if it was 3 its sometimes not enough and 4 is too much. I have settled on 3.5 and he eats more during the day, about every 2-3 hours as opposed to 3.5-4 at night. We switched formula from similac advance to similac sensitive and I have seen a major difference! He seems more settled after a feed and doesn't get upset and fussy.
Also I use baby ChapStick for his dry lips. Boudreauxs brand is the one I,have.

This is exactly how I feel. Baby girl never burps, seems gassy, always wants food. After she is mad after two pacifier offerings, I give up and feed her.

This is totally my issue right now. We EFF and DS can finish a 4 oz bottle, but I'm having the hardest time determining when he cries whether he's hungry or not. I don't seem to be good at reading the cues. We've tried offering a paci, but he'll take that regardless of whether he's hungry or not, so that doesn't help rule out hunger like it should. It's very frustrating! I don't know if we should move up to 5 oz, decrease time between feedings, or what. Feeding on demand does not seem to be working well, I feel too stupid most of the time!

DS (3weeks 3 days old) eats 4 ounces every 3-4 hours. we separate each feed into 2 sessions of 2 ounces w a diaper change or play time in between. He is a little over his birth weight of 9 lbs. Just today he started getting fussy and seems to want food more often-early growth spurt?

Someone told me growth spurts happen on the 3s...so 3 weeks, 6 weeks, etc. Sounds about right!

DS was born about 8 pounds and is 2.5 weeks old. Starting yesterday he is eating 4 ounces pretty consistently every 2-3 hours. This has escalated quickly since even last week when he was eating about 2-3 ounces every 3 hours or so (growth spurt perhaps?). He had only very small weight gain at his 2 week appointment (still not 100% back to birth weight) and pediatrician is a big fan of just letting DS eat as much as he wants. We are pumping with formula as needed (which is good because it is so hard to keep up with his appetite just pumping alone!) so far about 90% of his fussiness has been wanting just a little more food at each feeding so we've slowly been upping it to see how he does.

Hoping for some good weight gain at his 1 month appointment :-)
