What were LO's symptoms?

I posted on my other BMB yesterday about DS's horrible napping in addition to horrible nap time sleep and the fact that he seems uncomfortable, fussy or inconsolable most of the time. This in addition to his reflux DX had girls suggesting possible MSPI.

After another 4am screamfest, I drove down to.walmart and picked up a container of soy, and a container of alimentum. We won't get in to see the pedi until at least tuesday, and I couldn't watch him be so miserable anymore.

If LO has been diagnosed, what made you bring them in?

My LO hasn't been diagnosed but she was exactly how you described your LO. We switched to Alimentum and she's like a new baby. I hope you're little one responds as well!

My LO was vomiting while we were in the hospital from Similac Advanced so the pedi switched us to Soy, since then we haven't had any issues - occasional spit up but never had the vomiting again. She farts A LOT, no clue if that's related to the soy but she does great burps and farts. I'm constantly re-evaluating using the soy because of the "issues" that some research claims could result from feeding too much soy, but I don't believe that there have been enough pro-longed studies to validate those findings. Both the hospital pedi, our pedi and my OB didn't see any issue with using the soy, LO is happy and healthy so we will stick with it unless something else comes up.

My baby girl does. Ped switched her to Nutromogen. She had watery bloody mucus like stools. Super fussy like you said. When we switched formula she was a lot better. Still random bouts of blood in stool and a bit fussy but not like before. But ped said it can take a few weeks to get dairy out of her system. We are also seeing a GI doc this week to make sure.

We noticed that LO was fussy and extremely uncomfortable after each bottle. He also had a hard time with gas and BMs. We knew that we needed to switch him to soy. After we did, he was able to sleep longer, and pass a lot of gas. He still has issues with BMs. FWIW, my first son, me, and my mom were also on soy formula for the same issues, and we're all doing great.

@alysson.lawless‌ By hard time with BMs, do you mean constipation? It's been a couple of days since he pooped (we switched him to soy only yesterday), and he's typically consistently 1x per day.

Yes, he would get constipated and strain just to pass a bm.

DS has a formula intolerance. Before we found out he was on gentlease and he would projectile vomit all the time, cry hysterically for hours with no way to calm him down, had horrible gas all the time even with gas drops, had a hard time having BM but when he did it was diarrhea, and he had a rash on his neck and stomach. We were switched to alimentum which helped a little but not completely and he was out on Zantac for acid reflux.
Now he is on neocate infant, which is SUPER expensive! He still has problems so he has to see a GI specialist. If you think your DS has a sensitivity or intolerance, use the alimentum not the soy because they could have a soy intolerance as well. Good luck.
