Does anyone have any advice on relieving back pain? :(

I'm 23 weeks and have been having back pains pretty frequently. Anything that could help?

  • Depends on how severe. Prenatal yoga helps me a lot.

  • Little massage by my H every night and pillow between my knees when I sleep.

  • Definitely pillow between the knees and stretching before bed! Also I used to shower in the mornings, but now I shower right before bed.. And that seems to help too!
  • Heating pad. Mine is my friend
  • All of the above, and exercise. Just like pre-pregnancy, if my abs weren't in shape enough to support my back, I was hurting.
  • Heating pad has helped me a lot.

This! Child's pose does wonders for relieving my back and hip pain.

  • Arnica lotion (it's all natural and I use the Arnicare brand). My husband massages it in my back most nights for 1-2 minutes and it's great.
  • Heating pad, massage from DH and chiropractor. I would be miserable without these.

  • I second, third, and fourth the prenatal yoga. I had bad sciatica during my pregnancies with the girls, and I still use some of the movements/poses for sciatica today.

  • Another fan of the yoga stretches. It doesn't have to be a full class to really help - just stretching before bed and when I get up helps a lot.

And even better than pillow between knees is just one knee on a pillow - keeps my hips more level. Good luck!

  • I use a snoogle pillow to sleep every night and it has helped significantly with my hip and back pain. Have you tried a pre-natal massage? I can't wait to go get mine! I also agree with the other moms about physical therapy and prenatal yoga. Good luck to ya!
  • A warm Epsom salt bath does wonders for my back right before bed and also helps me sleep. I totally concur with child's pose and cat/cow. Swimming also gives me some temporary relief.
  • Depending on where in your back, a better bra. Mine is between my shoulder blades and a decent bra makes a huge difference.

  • Definitely look into a chiropractor! As everything shifts, it pulls the spine out of alignment. When it's in the right place, it's (usually) less painful. It's worth checking into!

  • Definitely agree with prenatal yoga and massage-they have really helped me.
I also mentioned my back pain to my dr and she printed out a couple sheets of exercises I could do to help back pain. Your dr could probably help with ideas.
