I called the U of M a few days ago. There are no hospitals or universities in MN or WI that accept individual cord blood donations. There is a national bank that will accept cord blood from anywhere in the US. Its called cryobank international. Find them online and it explains what is necessary to donate to them. You also have to talk to you doc and see if he/she is willing or able to do the collection. It sounds a bit complicated but I think I will try to do it. My husband and I can not afford to bank our cord blood so we'd like to see it put to good use. HTH

Wow, thanks for the info. I am going to look into that.
I also looked into Cryobanks to donate our code blood and was all set to go through with it. But, our doctor charges $150 to collect it, so we're not going to do it anymore. It's kind of frustrating that it will go to waste, but we just don't have the extra $150 to donate.
