Pandora during labor

I am wanting to have music during my labor, but do not really have the tools to make a whole playlist for the big day... I was curious what kind of music you choose for your labor and possible pandora stations you could recomend... I will be using my kindle for music during that time! Thanks.

Re: Pandora during labor

  • Well the music I like doesn't really seem like something I would labor too... so suggestions are what I was looking for?

  • Why would you labor to music you don't normally listen to?  You can listen to anything you want.  There are no rules that require Enya or anything.  Personally, I didn't listen to any music.  I watched a bit of TV and napped after I got my epidural.  Once it was time to push I wouldn't have noticed music anyway.
  • We made a play list but never got the chance to listen to it since DS came like a rocket.  In fact, I didn't get to use any of the things I planned to use in the delivery room.
  • I had music on for most of my labor. It was stuff that I liked, that could help me focus and didn't annoy me or distract me. That will be different for every person.

  • I listened to P!nk for the 20 minute car ride to the hospital.  I think I remember asking dh to bring the cd in, but it stayed in my suitcase the rest of the time.

I know its not a typical genre that most listen to, but sometimes putting classical on helps.  I've done that for women in labor before.  That or instrumental versions of their favorite artist.

But usually I ask what is their favorite type of music and will put that station on for them.
Yep. Contemporary classical is my favorite genre, and I may go that route this time or have Christmas music playing. :)

  • I feel relaxed to Pandora stations like Norah Jones, Sarah McLachlan, Enya. I plan to have music going as music helps me thru a lot of my life. It's calming and gives you something to focus on. I'm a first timer so not sure it applies to labor but I'm guessing it's different for all of us and worth a shot!
  • "Gobinday" - Mantra/Chant by Mantra Girl

Also, "Adi Shakti" by Mantra Girl.

This is what I listened to during labor.
  • With my first the nurse put on crappy whale sounds to "calm me". Which was the last thing I needed and instead just pissed me off. Then my second I smarted up and brought my running mix with music that helped pump me up to push him out.

This time I will probably be catching up on House of Cards until it is time to push then listen to my running mix again...good luck!
  • Push It - Salt n' Pepa

I just died! This is so awesome... hahahahaha.
  • I'm a doula and my first ever client had her laptop at the birth- hubby thought it would be funny to play baby beluga by raffi while she was in heavy labour- we laugh about it now but she was not happy then. For my second I had a play list of songs I liked and played through my very fast labour- the song that played when he was born always makes me nostalgic- it's nice to have an important moment in your life linked to a good song!
