33 weeks with feet and hand pain

Anyone else have feet and hand pain. Not really swollen but feels more like bruised? Feels like I can barely walk in the middle of night when I get up to go to the bathroom. Gets a little better during the day on the feet, but hand pain stays. Any one else feel this way?? suggestions on relief?

Thanks.

Re: 33 weeks with feet and hand pain

  • My feet feel like this. Just like you they feel bruised and sore to the touch. But mine are like this all the time. My hands are fine though. I thought mine was from the really bad swelling in my feet and ankles. I plan on talking to my doctor about mine this week.

  • No, Im going in on Tuesday, but I am sure its a normal symptom of pregnancy. Just wondering if someone had suggestions on relief.
  • I have hand pain that gets pretty bad over night and goes away gradually throughout the day. My Dr said it was probably caused by excess fluids messing with my tendons or ligaments in my wrists. Icing them as soon as I get up helps a bit, so does using them, rather than trying not to.

Definitely talk to your own Dr about it though, as yours could be completely different.
  • Are you swollen and puffy?  When I had really bad edema last pregnancy, my ankles felt sprained.  Could it be that?

I've had toe pain as a pregnancy symptom, but it doesn't feel like a bruise, more like a muscle cramp or sharp bone pain.

  • I think part of it is swelling and part of it the relaxin (sp) hormone that helps our joints prepare for pregnancy.

My hands and feet feel very stiff. I try to soak them in warm water when I wake up and that seems to help a little bit.

  • Hi no not swollen or puffy, just feels like a bruise. And yes also stiff toe pain. I will try the ice as it seems it may feel good on them.

    Thanks!
  • Sounds like tendonitis, probably on both feet and hands. I'd definitely talk to your doctor for tips on it.

  • I have this. I think it's really just swelling and all the extra weight. My doc suggested Epsom salt baths to bring down the swelling before bed as well as compression tights. It doesn't concern me but it hurts!
  • Oh, and wearing supportive shoes during the day has helped too. A lot.
  • I have this exact thing. It's rough. I cant open anything in the morning with my hands, and I hate the thought of getting out of bed to walk. My dr. said a lot of times its pregnancy induce carpal tunnel. Theres really not much you can do. It will go away after delivery :) Guess it's yet another perk of the baby baking job!
