We just hooked it up, it also plays music and projects images. But I don't know when to use it, before naps? Or is that "too entertaining" when they're winding down for sleep?
We have one and Luka loves it, but like @abbyseiden said it's too entertaining before bed. I will put it on when we are in his room playing, or to occupy him while I'm changing over laundry or peeing or if I need a minute (No judgements! )
We have one that came with the bedding set. It pays a faster version of "hush little baby" and LO looks at it for about 45 seconds before not caring anymore so mostly it just hangs there. DH gives it a crank when he puts LO down if he is still pretty awake but I don't.
If I think he needs something later on I'll probably get one of the soothers that hangs on the side of the crib. I already implemented far too many potential sleep crutches by accident for me to feel like introducing one if he doesn't seem to want/need it.
We have ones that I made but they only move if the fan is going or a window is open. If they are in their cribs I'll catch them staring at it from time to time or if it starts twirling they will watch for a few minutes but then start looking around at other stuff.
We put up a quiet little wind chime that moves around with the fan. Lily loves it and it is relaxing for her too. She has a louder musical one that you would wind up but she didn't care for it.
same thing. I got one on super clearance from BRU and have discovered last week that little one loves it. He stares at the animals and starts fussing whgen the music stops. Like a PP said, I put H in the crib and crank on the mobile and go pee or make lunch. I may have to get up to crank it multiple times, but he is content. I also think it's too stimulating to use before bed.
We have a wind up mobile, and he does like watching it spin. I'm a little disappointed that it doesn't stay on for long, so I haven't been using it lately.
We have one over the change table and over the crib. The boys watch them often & sometimes kick and appear excited, other times don't seem to care. They don't wind up or anything fancy pants though.
@camag - over the changing table is a great idea! I wish I'd heard of it sooner. I wonder if it will keep him from freaking out during diaper changes.
We have one that plays music and projects moving image. LO can laugh at it for 20 mins before she gets tired and wants us to put herto sleep. it is very entertaining to her and keeps her occupied for awhile when i need to do something else. I dont think it helps much to put her to sleep but at least she loves it.
We use ours when we need to have him in there while we do something like go to the bathroom. He loves it. I don't use it for sleeping though since I'm worried it's too stimulating.
LO loves her mobile. She doesn't sleep in her crib yet, but will watch it and coo while I fold laundry, run her bath water, use the restroom, etc. We have used it so much that the sound is wearing out on it. It's one of the mobiles that you have to wind up to play and move.
Our LO loves her mobile. She's on her 2nd one (first one we had to wind up, which was annoying). For our LO, it depends on her mood. I think it calms her down in general; so if she is sleepy, she will be able to get to sleep. If she is awake, she will coo at the animals.
