My DS is almost 6 months, he is very quiet and does not really babble at all.i can't remember when my first DS did more.
He is very busy moving. Anyone else?
I know this is one of the those threads where it's not at all helpful for me to reply, but I want to participate gosh darnit. No babbling here. 6.5 months. He just started raspberries.
We are still at the cute cooing and insesint ptyadactol like screaming stage. She is 5.5 months, no babbling yet. I remember my son was a "late" talker, didn't babble much before 1. Well he is almost 3 and is now advanced in his speech. Every babe is different.
Ha! Yes, pterodactyl screams here too. He's done some raspberries a few times, but no babbling yet. I can't remember when DD started to babble, but I don't think it was before 7 months.
Just want to add there are lots of types of babbling that typically go in stages, starting in simple forms and moving to complex forms that have intonation patterns like adults would use (raising pitch slightly at the end of a question, for example). It's totally normal for the development of these forms to vary slightly from kid to kid. Vocal play (pterodactyl screams, raspberries, lip trills, etc.) are all precursors to more complex forms of babbling, so while they may not be babbling like what you would imagine babbling to sound like, they're learning to use their tongue, lips, etc. to form sounds. They'll get there!

Vincent is currently doing lots of raspberries and spitting/blowing type things.
Dominic is completely into the pterodactyl scream but he is also doing some da da da da sounds. Every once in a while we will here a Di sound and a Ga.
I remember reading somewhere (can't remember where; thanks mommy-brain) that a lot of the time, if baby is very motor skill oriented, their vocal skills can take longer to develop. I noticed you said he was very busy moving, so maybe that's part of it.
Lo rolls and even pulled himself with his arms on the carpet a bit for the first time over the weekend, but mostly wants us to hold him up so he can see everything. He is a chatty fella, lots of squeals, raspberries, and various noises. when daddy is sleeping from midnight shift I try to take him out so he doesn't wake dh up! raspberries are the cutest....he will blow the pacifier right out of his mouth and thhhpt at everyone around him. he also has begun to focus on his mouth and really try to get certain sounds out, with varying degrees of success. you can see him pause, slowly open his mouth, try to shape his tongue, then squeak. I think grandma talks to him all day while I'm at work so I'm sure that has something to do with it.
LO is trying to learn raspberries. right now it is all air and spit, but she is getting the hang of it. She was so focused on sitting up that she forgets to talk... now that she can sit up mostly she is starting to babble a lot more and even getting out a few sounds other then grunts, squeals and Aaahhs.

DS1 was full of pterodactyl sounds. LO hasn't made it that far yet.
