C-sections

feeling flu-y

I just had my C-section on 8/25. It has been recovery as normal. I have a 3 yr old at home and maybe have over done it. I have been bleeding pretty strongly still and passing a few clots. Yesterday I was laying with my 3 yr old and he accidentally kneed me in the incision. It hurt so badly, but the incision looks pretty much the same. I got up in the middle of the night to pump and was nauseous. I have been feeling achey, sore throat and slightly nauseous. I am not sure if it is just normal recovery stuff or from pain meds or possibly sign of something else.

Anyone experience anything similar?

Re: feeling flu-y

  • My breasts don't feel red or lumpy. They are slightly hurty, but I think it is just from my milk coming in.

It is a holiday weekend, so it would have to be go to the ER or wait til Tuesday to go see my OB. I think I am going to take it easy and see how I feel. If I get a fever or start feeling worse, I may go to the ER. If I feel the same (or hopefully better) I will wait til Tuesday to go to the OB.

At least for now. . . .I think that game plan works.

  • Call your doc for sure. Anecdotally, I felt out of it from the Percocet which made me feel pretty "flu-y".
  • Do you have a fever?

I had a c/s on July 20 and on August 1 I felt like I was coming down with the flu.  Took my temp and it was 100.8, called OB, and while waiting for a return call it spiked to 102.5.  I was sent to the ER and they ran a bunch of tests and prescribed my 10 days of antibiotics.  Nothing showed up in my blood culture or urine (they think maybe I had a mild UTI), so who knows what was up.
