Fever

My daughter is 7 months and had a 101.6 this afternoon. Gave tylenol, went down to 100.6.
Flash forward to 7:00 spiked a 102.5, gave tylenol, climbed to 103.1 and is finally dropping a little. She is eating and drinking fine & has been laughing and playing all night. My question is...(after my novel) when do I go to ER? My pedi says anything over 104. This is our first fever and to be honest I'm scared as hell. 103 freaked me out!

  • Agree with PPs. 104 or if meds don't work or she stops having wet diapers.
I also used to sleeps on the floor when they were sick.

    Hugs!
  • Ditto to what everyone else said. From experience with a 103-105 fever for many days, a big thing to look out for is if they are lethargic. If they are sleepy and won't wake up you need to get to a hospital. They admitted my son for 3 days when that happened, but he's perfectly fine now. Good luck and follow up please.

  • We've always been told that any fever that responds to meds is a ok unless there are other concerns at play. Not wet diapers, lethargy, etc.

  • When I took DD1 to the ER for a high fever (about 2 years ago) they told me to give a combination of tylenol and advil. I would give her tylenol, then 4 hours later advil. It really helped. Hope LO feels better!
