So my hub coaches xc at a local high school and their big fund raiser is the melon festival 5k this weekend! While I thought I would have more of a bump by now, I am not missing out on the chance to run in my "I swallowed a seed shirt" I can't wait! Any other ladies still running out there? Hoping to break 27 min which is slow for me, but running with this gut and these boobs is a new adjustment!! :)

  • Avid distance runner here. I ran a 10 mile race two weeks ago and a half marathon last weekend. Running 10 with my running crew tomorrow. Good luck with your race!

  • Still running (and swimming) here. My ultimate goal is to run the half that I'm signed up for at 36 weeks. I'm running a 5k this Saturday as part of my 10 mile long run.

  • I'm totally in awe as well. I was getting into running the year before I got pregnant - I ran my first 5K (slowly, but I finished it) and had gotten up to running about 4 miles at a time. Then I got meningitis which sucked, then I got better and got pregnant right away. Now my boobs hurt too much to run and I get out of breath way too quickly.

I do plan on picking up running again after baby is born - get back in shape and see what I'm capable of!

Have an awesome time at your races!!
  • You all are amazing! Good luck and have fun!
  • Awesome ladies!! Post pics with your bumps and medals after!! Hope the weather is pleasant for us all! I am in Ohio and weather isn't looking to be too bad on Monday :)
  • I am extremely impressed with all of you!  I am a runner- have done 3 marathons, many half marathons and hundreds of 5Ks, but since about 8 weeks along, I just can't get my body to do it!  I feel sluggish and heavy and can barely do a mile anymore :(  I'm looking forward to getting back into it after baby is born.  Good luck to all of you!
  • I am still running as well. I have a fun 5k through the zoo this weekend. I'm wearing a shirt with one of those annoying "Baby on Board" signs printed on the front. I'm going to put ZOO atop the sign because we just had some zoo babies born here. :) I'm a nerd and love our zoo.

I'm still running, but I get lots of low back pain and I have to pee every few miles. I also get frequent BHs, so I have to take it easy.

I don't like to race while pregnant, because I don't like any of my pregnancy times (slower) and I don't want them recorded. I'm anal like that. ;)
Have you tried a support belt? Everyone I know who has ran pregnant swears it helps with the urge to pee and the back pain. I got one and tried but my baby is still too low to wear comfortably.

  • I ran my last 5k that I was signed up for two weeks ago. (Furthest race I've done so far was 1/4 marathon.) I've toyed with the idea of running another race in October, but I have not made any time to run since my last race and don't see any Windows opening up soon :( good luck!
  • Have fun at your race :)

I was running until 2 weeks ago.. I'm not allowed now
    =((

I'm having BP issues and it goes pretty sky high when I run, along with making me very dizzy.  So I've been told to stop.  But I made it 20 weeks, so I'm proud of that :)  I'll continue again after baby when I can.

  • How did everyone's races go?! I was thrilled with my run! Ran a 24:19 and even placed 3rd in my age group :) I couldn't believe how great I felt, no achy uterus or anything "which I have occasionally felt while running" looking for the next race I can get into, possibly a color run :) hope you all kicked butt!
  • Definitely feeling the urge to pee when I run, it's annoying. And most recently my calves have been really tight which has been awful on my speed.

My goal is to complete a half at 28 weeks in late October. I've run that distance before but never raced it, my goal is just to finish! Building up mileage has been ok so far, though definitely not great.

  • Lola918 maybe try mixing it up a little, give your calves a break by swimming and or biking for a day instead. That way you still get the cardio but give your legs a break. Also make sure you are wearing the proper running shoes for your gate. Not sure if you live in or near a city but a specialty running shoe store can evaluate you while running and get you in the right type of shoe. If you already know all that, sorry for the rant
