Throwback Thursday

Hey, y'all. Hope everyone is well, and looking forward to the holiday weekend.

I'd like to get to know you guys a little better, so if you're up for it, tell us a little bit about where you were in your lives 5 years ago.

I was 23, living in Richmond, VA and working full-time at a bakery to pay for grad school (journalism). I was four years into dating my SO, and impatient as all get out for him to pop the question (took him another year).

I pretty much lived off of cookies and espresso, listened to a lot of punk rock and didn't call home enough to check in. Sorry, mom!

OK -- go!

  • Hmm let's see. Five years I ago I was 24 and had been married for a month. We lived in KC, DH was a police officer and I was a preschool teacher. I actually was going through a miscarriage. We took a break from trying for a month and then got KU with DD1 in October. Crazy how much has changed since then!

Let's see, 5 years ago I had just turned 30 (my bday is Aug. 25) and my then fiancee took me to New Orleans to party for my birthday. We were also 3 weeks out from our wedding - we got married on 9/19 in Mexico almost 5 years ago. We also bought our first home right before our wedding and closed on it when we got back from the wedding. Talk about a stressful few months! But it was all worth it.

I was 28.  H and I had gotten married 3 months before, we'd bought our house 2 months before, and I'd started my job 1 month before.  Same husband, same house, same job!  So I guess not a whole lot has changed since then, haha.

5 years ago I was 27.  I had just started dating my husband and was about to start my last semester of law school.    I was living in the same place I live now.    I was horseback riding 4-5 days a week which I was super passionate about before I was pregnant.

  • 5 years ago I was 30 and getting ready to move into my first house with my husband. The stress of it all caused me to break out in intense hives all over my body (they lasted for almost a year) but I love our house so it was (sort of) worth it :-)

  • You're all such young'ens! Five years ago I had an almost three-year-old, a six month old and I was about to find out that I was pregnant again. I had just been promoted at work and my husband was still plugging along in graduate school. We felt we were so busy but that everything was going so well, little did we know how crazy things were about to get.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

  • 5 years ago I was 23 and just started dating my husband. I had also just started my masters program for Acupuncture.
  • 5 years ago I was 24 and within one month, DH and I got engaged, closed on a house, and bought a chocolate lab puppy.

  • Wow. Feeling a little old right now. I was almost 32.

Five years ago, DH and I had been married almost a year but together for almost eight. We'd been in our now former house (we moved last month) for almost 3 years and were the doting parents to our two pups, one of whom was recovery from surgery on two slipped discs. My dad was just finishing up therapy for a double heartache and triple bypass/valve replacement. We were about to decide that we were ready to start TTC our first. Same job I currently have, only I was in the office full time (work from home full time now) and had not yet been promoted into my management position.

  • I think I might be the baby of the group! 5 years ago I was 21, starting my last full year of college (it took one more semester after that to actually graduate in December 2010). I had been dating my hubby for 2 years at that point and we were going through a pretty rough patch at the time (but it worked out and we're closer because of the hard times!). I was living with the best roommate I ever had who is still a close friend (and just had a baby of her own last month!).
  • 5 years ago I was 22 and I had just graduated and moved to Brooklyn from NC with my husband (though he was only my boyfriend back then). We had just gotten our sweet little dog and were getting settled into our cozy little 500 sq ft apartment! We would go out every single morning to get bagels for breakfast because we didn't have internet yet and we needed to check our email to see if we had heard back about any jobs. Neither of us were working yet. We spent the rest of the days taking crazy long walks around the city.

Looking back now that was one of the most fun years of my life!! A lot has changed since then, but we had some great memories there!

5 years ago I was 36 years old (oh how I miss the 30's!)  I was dating a really great guy but the relationship was more like friends with benefits.  I moved to be 1/2 hr closer to him and lived in a dingy 1 bedroom apartment in a run down part of town.  I was learning how to golf and life was pretty good until my bf and I split up 2 months later.  Man, was I devastated!  Little did I know, 7 months later my life was about to change.
