Did anyone see this article? NYT re: ASD

https://www.nytimes.com/2014/08/22/health/brains-of-autistic-children-have-too-many-synapses-study-suggests.html?ref=health&_r=0

Hope the link works. I couldn't figure out how to copy and paste the whole article from my iPad. I'll try to do it from my PC in a little while.

Re: Did anyone see this article? NYT re: ASD

  • I saw it. A friend who doesn't know about my DS1 posted it. Very interesting. I have no problem saying I'd love a cure, though I realize it's controversial and some would scorn me for it.

  • I found it interesting, too.

  • Bright from the Start by Jill Stamm (early child development book unrelated to ASD) talks quite a bit about how the brain synapses work how the brain develops. I read it long before we noticed DS's issues and got his dx.

I can see how that could relate to many of the ASD symptoms and hopefully could help develop therapies for comprehensive treatment. Something that can address the brain development rather than manipulating behavior.
