NCDR: Ergo Carrier Help

We have an Ergo Performance and a K'tan. I use the K'tan around the house, but prefer the ergo for when we're out since it has the hood.

He is almost 3 months old, about 13+ lbs and was 23 inches long at last check-up. He hates having his legs tucked in (will try to stand) but I can't figure out how to position him properly with legs out at his size. I've tried the rolled-up blanket under his bum. Does anyone have any photos of how it should look with a baby this age? Or any tips for a better fit? Thanks.

  • I'm trying to get the pic one of my VBE's posted. It really helps show the proper positioning with the Ergo.

  • Their legs are supposed to bend at the knees.

We were gifted the infant insert and it also came with a small pillow. We used the small pillow a lot when ds was that size. It helped him sit up high enough so his head wasn't covered by the body of the ergo and so his knees could naturally bend. Does that make sense? Helpful?

You'll want to use a sturdy blanket (not too much give when you roll it up). I've heard of people using a towel too.

  • I've also used a rolled up nicki's prefold and that worked really well for us. They much longer than GMD so they gave enough height, and they were the right width.

  • Thanks ya'll. That is helpful. I think the blanket was not big and/or sturdy enough. I think I was also trying to pull his feet out too far, thinking they should be outside of the carrier, but he's not big enough. I'm going to try again with a thick hand towel and see if that works better. :-)

  • Nana said it!

DS hated to be legs in. A blanket rolled under his bum and legs out changed his view on being worn.
