3rd pregnancy, 40 weeks, no dilation & 50% effaced

Ok. This is my 3rd pregnancy, I'm 40 weeks today. At my appointment today the doctor said I'm still not dilated and am still about 50% effaced (I was the same last week). The plan is for me to have an ultrasound to check on him next week and then be induced next Friday if he's not here yet (Fri will be 10 days past my due date).

Have any of you experienced this? I was dilated for about a month before my other two children were born. One I was induced with two weeks early because I had toxemia and the other I went into labor two days before my due date.

    No pregnancy is the same. He will eventually come out.

    I just had this happen and was given misoprostol and then induced with pitocin. My water broke in between. He was very very high up. I dialated fairly quickly but spent over 3 hours pushing him out.

    I just got back from my 40 week appt too -- 40+3 to be exact, with my third.  Only dilated 1 cm / 60% effaced.  It's frustrating since I've been having a lot of painful contractions so was shocked that so little progress has been made :(

    My induction is scheduled for 9/2. No advice, but best of luck to you.  I keep trying to tell myself that dilation means nothing, but it's hard!

    I'm 40 weeks 1 day with my second. My first came 5 days early. I am only about 1-2 and 60% effaced and baby girl is still very high. It's frustrating.

    I'm 39w4d and my other two children were born at 36 weeks and the 37w4d. I'm being patient, but I have no signs of impending labor and baby seems very comfortable inside. I may very well end up having a September baby.
