Those of you who did play kitchens for 1st birthday

I am planning on getting DD a Play kitchen for her 1st birthday in December. DH thinks she is too young. My argument is that since her birthday and Christmas are 3 weeks apart she will grow into over the year since there will be a whole year before any big gifts again. With that, did your LOs use the play kitchen much between 1-2 years old. Also, recommendations? I'm thinking kidkraft but still looking around.

  • We have a step 2 kitchen. It was really a Christmas gift for DD#1. She was just over 2 when we got it. Avery was playing with it even before she could stand. She'd pull out the pots and pans and play food. Both girls play with it daily. If you're going to invest in a toy like that you should do it so they can get the most use out of it.

  • I agree with you since her bday is in December. We got the twins theirs for Christmas at 18 mo old and they've played with it every day since. We have a Kidkraft and its held up pretty well with two kids.
  • we had a step 2. its in the basement now for maybe the past 7 months.

  • We have a Step 2 kitchen and it's really nice! I wasn't sure about a plastic kitchen initially since the KidKraft ones are so cute but I like it a lot. My mom got it for her for Xmas last year so 17 months. Dagny played with it a lot at first but at the moment is really into her Little People stuff so she doesn't play with it as much. But I can remember playing with mine as a kid until I was 10+ so it's a great long lasting gift I think. Oh and my mom got DD the Melissa & Doug food cans which DD loved because you could take the lids off and put stuff in etc.
