Nauseous all day - can't stop snacking!

I get so nauseous throughout the day and the only thing that really seems to help are lots of carbs (mostly pretzels) all day. I can't keep eating like this!!! The Preggie Pops have helped slight but doesn't fully do the trick. Any suggestions?!? BTW I'm expecting twins!!! Yay!

Re: Nauseous all day - can't stop snacking!

  • I agree. I've been really sick for the past three weeks. No vomiting, but it's almost unbearable, and I'm so blah that there are days when I can barely eat anything. Sometimes I'm in tears, alone of course, or I just sleep. I find after a nap everyone's in a whole my belly feels just good enough to eat a small light meal.

  • I find constant snacking is the only way to make it through my day without feeling like death everyday.
If pretzels help you get through your day I say go with it until you feel better and can eat better

Edit: no advise really .. I would say do whatever it takes to get through the day !!

  • Do what works, sounds like constant snacking is working! So keep doing it. It won't last forever

  • I'm with you. Right now, I'm going with whatever works. I can't force foods or I'm running for the Porcelain God.

9 weeks has hit me like a ton of bricks.

    Whatever works, stick with it.

  • Eat whatever it takes. I've been living on lemonade, ruffles, corned beef hash, bagels and McDonalds for 8 weeks. My belly is bigger than necessary but it kept me just a little more comfortable. At 13 weeks I can finally drink a cup of water and eat some fruit without crying.

  • I am 9 weeks and feel the same way. It seems to be getting worse. I don't throw up just so nauseated it makes it hard to do anything. Carbs are the only thing that seems to help. My work is starting to get upset because I keep calling in but it is hard just to get up and going. I have been in two different nausea meds and they don't seem to work. Any suggestions other then carbs?
  • I heard water melon helps!! Already called dh to bring some home to try it out tomorrow
  • Are you using the regular preggie pop drops or the Plus ones?  The Plus one worked the best for me.

I would also alternate snacking on crackers/pretzels with unsalted roasted nuts, cucumbers and greek yogurt ranch as well as pretzels and hummus that way I was also getting some protein in with my snacks.

Sorry you're so nauseous, hope it calms down soon!

  • I am the same exact way! Feel like I need to eat small amounts every two hours to get through the day. I got the preggo pop drops, I think they do help a little.

My whole 10th week was hell.

11 week this Monday and to "celebrate" I pretty much had 'hospital' food:
Toast with honey - throw up
    Jello - throw up
Berry juice diluted with water - throw up
    Water - throw up.

It's hopeless. I gotten to a point I rather starve and feel nauseous and then dry heave instead of throwing up every half hour. Good thing I had a dr appt the next day.

So at appt, I weighed in 14lbs lighter than 1.5 months ago. She upped my meds from Diclectin to Zofran.

I only threw up once since then and able to keep food and fluids down. But even though i don't throw up or feel nauseous, I still the discomfort, and knowing the wave is hitting me, throughout the day.

    When will this end???????
  • oatmeal has been the only thing i can keep down for weeks now! ginger tea seems to be helping somewhat as well. good luck! midwife says morning sickness should let up soon!

  • Watermelon and sipping lemonade helped me a lot. I made some lemonade into popcicle, which also helped. Along with lots and lots of carbs. (I ate a lot of pasta with a little butter and Parmesan cheese.)

I'm 13wk4d and am finally starting to feel like myself again. Hopefully there's a light at the end of the tunnel for you all!
  • My doc prescribed diclegis. Been taking it for two days and I can eat so much better now. Their website has an awesome deal good til the end of the year. But u do need a prescription. I have a high deductible medical plan, so I'm paying out of pocket for now. Worth every penny tho!
  • I'm the same and carbs definitely help. My doctor said eat whatever you can keep down while nauseous. It should ease up in the second trimester. I feel you though. Hope that helps!
  • I'm 13 weeks today and know exactly how you feel. I haven't thrown up at all but I have been nauseous constantly and carbs are the only thing helping. I weighed myself yesterday and so far in this pregnancy I've gained 4 pounds. I know that's totally within the normal range but I was still hoping to keep it more at bay for a little bit longer but you have to do whatever you can do so the carbs will keep on coming I guess.
  • Small meals or snacks during the day work best for me. I try to add some protien or cheese with my carb choices. I also do a lot of fruit & veggies. Thinking of eating a full meal sometimes makes me feel sick so I stick with what I know works. I do find that if I don't eat enough protien during the day I feel sicker at night & If I don't eat something that sticks with me thru the night the next day starts out bad.
