Is anyone planning on venturing out with their little one for Spring Break (mid-March) 2015? Staying close to home? How far would you travel and what factors would you consider?
Most likely we will be home then especially because my maternity leave is all unpaid so we will be living on a budget for a while. In the spring or summer we will prob do day trips.
We are actually planning a spring break trip. Hopefully we have LO's passport in time but if not, we are going to push the trip back to April. We are flying into Pisa and from there going to Florence, Siena and Cinque Terre. Should be fun with a 6yo, 4yo, 1yo and 2 month old:) I'm not totally on board but DH thinks we will be fine.
Our spring break starts in my birthday (April 4th). Well just be going down to NC to see family and friends and going to visit my old school for people to meet the twins. No big trip, money will be tight I'm sure.

Provided Surprise's passport and re-entry letter are here on time, we're thinking of maybe going to Atlanta for the Women's 7s World Series tournament in March. If not, we'll do something later, but I'm really hoping we can get there.
Nope! My Mom and hopefully other family will be here with us. Hopefully she will be staying for a month to help me out with the 2 kiddos.
We are, however, going to Hawaii with the ILs in June and I am already sweating about that one. Thankfully Ella loves SIL and she has already volunteered to have her stay in their room anytime we (or Ella) would like, which takes a bit of the stress away!
We're planning a trip to Indianapolis to see family. I'm really excited since I haven't been there in almost 15 years! It will be a looooooong car trip with a 6 year old and a newborn though

Had to retake all tests and a mamm that put me behind and then on a DE waiting list for 12 months.
Picked a donor!! (10/13/13) Got matched. Estimated transfer in December. After 2.5 years of patiently waiting I will finally cycle....can hardly believe it. DE cycle got cancelled. One of her tests came back positive. Waiting for another donor. Donor picked!! (1/18/14)
DE IVF #1 (4/26) BFN DE FET #1 (6/4) BFP! Beta 1=339 Beta 2=852 Beta 3=9957 EDD 2/22/15!!
no trips here, that is for sure. I don't enjoy going anywhere when I have to nurse every 2-3 hours. Plus, I don't like taking a newborn out much until they are at least 3 months old.
I'm a teacher @Trin42. My husband and I work in the same County as our daughter so we all have the same time off during the school year and summer. Very convenient!
Our spring break revolves around easter, usually the week of it. But it's always around easter.

We probably won't be traveling until the baby is around 6 months old. Newborns required alot of stuff! Plus there's the feeding schedule, sleep schedule, etc that just seem like they'll take all of my attention whether we're home or not so I don't want to spend the money on a trip I can't enjoy. I'm also going to be nervous about taking the baby out until cold and flu/RSV season is completely over around May.
We'll spend a week or two in the Florida Keys the last few weeks of my maternity leave. Not really a spring break trip (as the weeks dont matter with our schedule) I'll just need some pool/sand/sun time before returning to the reality that is work
**Siggy Challenge What You're Looking Forward to Most after Baby Arrives**
No plans yet, but we will probably go somewhere. We take a few vacations each year. When Adeline was 3 months old we did a New England road trip (week long, 3 different states) and it was great. We stopped a lot along the way so that she didn't have to stay in her car seat and it was nice having the car with everything we needed.

I have a 5 day cruise to Jamaica and Haiti that we booked before we got our BFP, for around when LO will be 6wks (if he comes on schedule).
Right now the plan is to leave him home with the my mom aka my nanny. But if I REALLY start to feel anxious about it, I can always just take him with me since he would be free. As long as I can get necessary paperwork for him to travel.
What I was just discussing with my coworker is how I will deal with breastfeeding while Im gone if he stays, and whether or not he can go with me before his 2 month shots. I have no clue what to do.

Leave that kid with nanny and pump like crazy before you leave so he has a freezer stash.
Never discuss the trip again because people will think you are a monster for leaving your kid home at such a young age.
I thought about stocking up on milk before leaving. But its the pump and dump situation that worries me. I hate having 5 days worth of breast milk that I'll have to pump to keep a supply going, but where am I going to store that while gone? But I hear what you are saying about not discussing it with people and then realized that folks leave to go to work every day when babies are around 6wks, and sometimes baby is with a stranger or a random daycare. At least mine is with my mom, and Im only gone for a few days. But we are considering taking baby away with us. But Im getting more heat for saying Im going to take baby out of the country so young, than me saying Im going to leave him. Damned if I do, damned if I dont.

@animalcrckr - you're already in Europe, right? Am I remembering that correctly? Or are you flying overseas? I'm trying to determine what level of crazy you really are.
Yeah, we're already over here so we're looking at a 2 hour flight. Once we get there we are going to takes trains. We did fly overseas when DD was only 4 weeks old. She was the easy one. The 3 and 4 yo were much more challenging. I would travel with a newborn any day over an older baby.
I haven't gone on spring break since my college days, but I'm not in teaching.
We probably won't take any big trips next year. There's a slight potential we may go to CA to visit family and take A to Disneyland next fall, but that's likely it.
I've been wondering about this as well. H and I wanted to take a babymoon somewhere beachy. I don't think that's going to happen though given I'm now in school and so the only time I can vacation is in December.
So, now I'm thinking we'll take a trip (maybe with grandparents) after the baby is born. I still want to do the beach. I wanted to see if anyone else on here has experience with having an infant (maybe 2mos - 8mos) on a beach. What are things to think about (besides sun protection)? What's the best way to do the beach with a teeny-tiny little one, or should it just be avoided until they're old enough to at least sit up on their own?

We were going to drive down. (A 22 hour drive from where we live in Ontario). Just me and my two boys ages 5 and 8 by then.
Now I'm not sure about it.
