When to buy!

I'm wondering when everyone is starting to buy things?!? I know only things that wouldn't matter about the sex if your into decorating that way until 20 weeks but what about other stuff ?!

  • I am buying a snoogle today. Mainly because I need some retail therapy.

  • I bought cloth diapers on kijiji (new) because they were an awesome deal, and I bought a baby book because I love it. Saving the rest of the big ticket stuff until after our anatomy scan and maybe some good deals around the holidays.

  • My MIL has already started to buy stuff for our little "girl". Is it a girl? Who knows! The woman has 8 grandsons already so if it is a girl we will be all set. If it's a boy... well, we're on our own! Either way, I am planning to start shopping once I hit 2nd tri. My friend wants to throw a shower in Feb but I think would still like to start little by little :)

Nada yet. Waiting until I find out the sex. I might cave once I'm in the "safe" zone around week 13, but probably nothing more than buying books, and misc. fun items. I'll save the real stuff for down the road. Not sure when, but ya probably 20+ weeks. Edited: I really really can't spell;)

  • I didn't buy much w my 1st pregnancy because I was afraid to have a MC and didn't want to get ahead if myself ( I had a previous loss though)

I purchased a few outfits when I was closer to 5months and furniture came closer to 8months.

Everything else went on the registry .

  • We have the majority of the baby gear we'll need for this baby, with a few exceptions. If I see any good deals I'll buy things as we go along pretty much starting now.

  • I have a few neutral newborn things. I also got some very nice hand me downs (including a lot of cloth diapers). Those are things I wanted to start stocking up on early. I'm fortunate to have a lot of friends who want to get rid of their baby stuff. :)
  • I found 2 canvas wall art prints at Babies R Us for $2 each.  Bought them when I was like 7 weeks lol

  • I was wondering too. Ive bought books simply because they were brand new, 75% off and ideally will last for 2 kids(maybe even a third?). But that's it. I also figured I'd do some black friday shopping.
  • We have almost everything we'll need so not really planning to buy much except a new car seat.  For that I am stalking deals like crazy and will nab it up if the one I want goes on sale anytime.

There's really no furniture or anything that you need in the beginning, anyway.  My son slept in a box his first two nights home until my SIL gave us a swing.  He was 5 weeks old when he actually slept in his bed.

  • I'll be waiting until the 20 week u/s. If it's a boy, we're good to go! We still have all of DS' baby stuff in storage. If it's a girl...she might be dressed like a tomboy for a while ;)

This!!! Both of my children slept in a laundry basket! Lol! Going forward, I don't think we will do that again!
  • We are! If it was up to my husband my entire registry would be bought (he is really excited) but I agreed to get one thing per paycheck. We don't have a lot of people who will help us out so for us it is easy financially to spread out things. Also we ordered the crib and dresser and we are so glad we did because it's on a 3 month back order! Right now we are starting with things that are gender neutral and hopefully will have most of that done by the time we find out if it's a boy or girl to get the bedding and clothes.
  • I will not buy anything before 24 weeks. That being said, I don't need a lot for #3, but I will be waiting a while nonetheless.
  • We are headed to Atlanta for Labor Day and I hope to convince J to stop at Ikea, where I will probably grab a few things like crib sheets. We are 6-8 hours from our closest Ikeas and won't make it back to one before LO, so I don't want to pass up the opportunity. Other than that, probably won't buy anything until after the shower and we determine what we still need.
  • My husband and I have been buying diapers whenever there is an awesome deal on them. We figure we're certainly going to use them and it really does make it easier to buy them over time then to run out and get them last minute. They have to be an awesome deal though. Also, we were in Target a week ago and someone must have returned some things from their registry and target had to put them on clearance. I got the Baby Einstein (super gender neutral) bouncer/exersaucer thing I wanted for $30 instead of $100. I don't intentionally go looking for baby just yet, but a deals a deal!
  • I bought some maternity pants, just because I'm usually pretty busy on week-ends and didn't know when else I'd get the chance. And the cold weather can hit pretty fast in Canada, so I didn't want to be stuck with nothing to wear. There's just no way I can fit into my regular jeans at this point.

I found a lovely crib at Pottery Barn on sale for $499. I have no clue how good of a deal this is because I don't know what cribs are suppose to cost........but I am moving in a month so didn't feel right buying something big before we actually get the house. So I'll probably start to work on the nursery in Oct. :)

  • I have been trying to stay away from buying anything until we are a little further along.  But, we found a killer deal at Costco on a 4 in 1 crib that cost $399.00.  Costco only sells furniture through the end of summer so we knew if we wanted a good sturdy crib that we could use until the nugget is 18 we should grab it up STAT.  The crib was only sold in stores and not online so we made sure to take advantage of it.  That has really been the only buy so far, but it was a big one.
