Has anyone ever experienced a post-partum haemorrhage with their first delivery but not with their second?
I had a very terrifying post-partum haemorrhage after delivering my son, this resulted in me having to have a blood transfusion.
I remember literally feeling the life slipping away from me and i was absolutely petrified i was going to die

Has anyone else been through this and experienced a normal delivery with subsequent pregnancies?
I am feeling terrified in this pregnancy

I would appreciate any stories

Re: Post-partum haemorrhage
Make sure your care team knows about your history. Then they can make sure to take additional precautions, such as having anti-hemorrhagic drugs present in the room and maybe even having cross-matched blood in the room depending on their practice.
Hopefully you don't have repeat bleeding and everything goes smoothly for you!
Thank you very much for your reply, i'm pretty sure my PPH was due to my uterus failing to contract after delivery, i certainly think this is what has been explained to me before.
I have an appointment with my consultant on the 20th dec so i'll get the opportunity to discuss my fears and worries then.
I really do hope this does not happen again. The thought of another PPH and blood transfusion terrifies me
Thanks again for your reply and kind words

I delivered my second child almost 3 months ago, I hemorraged with my first a week after her birth and was rushed from my OBs office to surgery (listening to my doc yell at the hospital day surgery center on the phone saying "Get me a room! Do you want her to bleed out waiting" was not what i wanted to hear.) It was terrifying and resulted in a D&C and blood transfusion. It was traumatizing and i was happy to wait almost three years for our second.
When i had my son in Sept, I was scared of a repeat. I had a scheduled c-section (my first was an emergency) and everything went smoothly. I went home two days later was able to take care of my son (with my daughter I was so drained from blood loss it seemed like ages before I could care for her by myself). No hemorrage, I did have a decent size clot pass in the middle of the night one night and panicked slightly, as that was how the first hemorrage started. But everything was fine and all went well. Good luck mama. It is scary, but it will most likely be ok.
