Since this board likes drinking. How does your state rank?

https://www.thrillist.com/drink/nation/every-state-in-the-usa-ranked-by-its-beer

We're #1, we're #1, I don't drink beer, but we're #1! I laughed at the description of Oregon pretty damn hard.
"... basically, if you enter a city or town in Oregon without a solid brewery, you’ve probably crossed into Washington or Idaho. Or maybe the capital of Salem... which sucks. But you’ll still find a great brewpub serving some of the best beer in America, made in Oregon, with Oregon hops, by a bearded Oregonian who’s probably in a band that sucks... that’s the Oregon way"

  • #15. They didn't even list any of the really good beers made in NC though.
  • #8! And I just moved out of #9. From now on, I will only stay in the top 10 should we ever move again. I've decided.

  • Once again, Kansas sucks at life. Dirt cake and crap beer. Although, I live down the road from Free State, so I have no complaints.

  • #2! But even though CA didn't win top honors, the guy had this to say about my particular city:

"all the way down to San Diego, which we’re gonna go ahead and deem the most dominating beer city in world history"

That's a strong statement! And I have to agree. I love the selection of beer here.
There is nothing like beer and mexican food in San Diego. It almost makes me want to visit. Then I remember that most of my family lives there and I contemplate moving to Canada.

12 isn't so bad. Columbus has some really awesome local breweries too.

I really like a lot of the Great Lakes beers. The best part of visiting Cleveland is Great Lakes on tap, lol.

So true. Conways Irish Ale is amazing! I just wish the food was better.
  • Portland has been at the top of my weekend vacation list because 1) BEER and 2) Easy flight

Did they have Olde Mecklenburg Brewery on there? Excellent German brews.
Newp. They mentioned like one Foothills beer and glossed over a few breweries.

Pisgah Pale is like.. the best thing that I have ever had in my mouth. Definitely should have been on the list.
  • Of course, looking at the list I notice that a lot of the smaller guys aren't mentioned. They are usually the best.

    Which are your favorites?

DH helped build Fullsteam and Natty Greene's  :)

Well, I live in Asheville so I'm a little biased towards breweries around here. Two of my favorites are in Black Mountain (Pisgah and Lookout) I like Natty Greene's but we don't really get those around here. Asheville Brewing is awesome. We have one called The Wedge (they don't bottle though) that makes several amazing beers.

Downtown Asheville has LAB and Hi-Wire which are both excellent.

    I could keep going...

Next time we visit BIL/SIL maybe we should gtg....They are in asheville.  :)  I recognize Lookout and I almost think (i could be wrong...) is the wedge a restaurant too?  I feel like I remember BIL mentioning they went to dinner there...
No. Only a brewery but they always have food trucks outside. :)

  • Washington is a respectable 5. I'd like to think that my love of all things alcohol has something to do with that.
I'm from Washington too but I was actually surprised to find the state in the top 10. Lol
There are a lot of breweries especially in the Seattle area. Home brewing is really popular too. A lot of the local libraries actually teach a class on it.

gwinny I love WA wine. I love wine in general though.
