I should just let her sleep...right?!?!

DD had a really hard time falling asleep last night and I was with her cuddling her for a while. It probably took an hour and a half for her to fall asleep. I hate teething!!  ~X( Well, it's noon now, and she's still asleep. She usually wakes up around 10-10:30 most days. Sometimes earlier though. But I should just let her sleep right? I hate that this is probably going to screw up her nap time, which will most likely mess up bedtime. I know that she isn't feeling well and apparently she needs this sleep so just let her wake up by herself right??

Now that I'm thinking. She usually naps 2-3 hours a day and yesterday she only napped for an hour, so that may be adding to the whole situation.

  • Teething is the worst!!! You have all my sorries. I would let her sleep, she probably needs to catch up :)

  • I'd let her sleep and play the rest of the day by ear. You never know, she might give sleepy cues at her usual naptime. Sometimes my boys do that....they just need extra sleep for whatever reason.

  • Whenever DD was little and over sleeping, I always just let her sleep. If she was sleeping longer, it was generally because she needed to catch up.

  • Yes, let her sleep but can we talk about how you get her to sleep in until 10:00-10:30 in the first place?!?!? Lucky mama!
Right??? 10/10:30 is our naptime right now because we're up by 6:30 every single day. Granted they also have a 7 PM bedtime, and I'd rather have an early start w/ more time in the evening....what time does your DD go to bed?

  • I am reading that book "Health Sleep Habits, Happy Child", and the author says never wake a sleeping baby. So I go with that  :)

  • DS2 is teething as well. It's awful!! We've gotten barely any sleep in the last week. I let him sleep whenever I can.

  • I've got a big sleeper too.  At 17months she sleeps 7:30pm to 8:30/9am and takes a 3-4hr nap.

I wouldn't wake her...they sleep for a reason and unlike us adults they can 'catch up' on missed sleep.

  • @minerswife17‌ DD was similar to yours. Even now (she just turned two), she goes to bed at any time between 7-8pm and sleeps until 9 with a 3 hour nap (or longer) during the day. Girl loves her sleep what can I say? :D

  • I literally never wake ds unless we have a specific, important appointment.
