Business trip and toddler breastfeeding

Hi ladies -

Anyone have experiences with toddler breastfeeding and business trips? I may have to go to Mozambique for a week next week, and my daughter (14m) still nurses 2x/day. I'll take the pump just for supply's sake, but I'm really afraid that she'll wean while I'm gone (which I don't think either of us is ready for).

Also, anyone with experience re: emotional responses of toddlers to you being gone? Ugh, I'm kind of dreading this.

Thanks!

  • I think it is very likely she will be thrilled to see you when you get home and demand to nurse immediately. :) I did a few 2-3 day trips after DS turned 1 yr old, and he was fine. It did seem like he acted out a bit more once I got home, like he was letting me know he was mad at me for leaving. :)) But nursing-wise, we were fine. GL and have fun on your trip!

  • Awesome, thanks ladies! The only other time we've been apart that long was a slightly traumatic hospitalization on my part, so my brain immediately went to worst-case scenarios...glad to hear it doesn't have to be that way!! :)

  • I am doing a 5 day trip in September so it's encouraging to see that the LOs go right back to nursing. Good luck to everyone!
