I've read about it. Pregnancy insomnia. At 16 weeks & I'm tossing and turning every night. Now I have back pain which has only added to my being awake. Any helpful suggestions on how to help me get to sleep? Anything is welcome
I am 16 weeks and got a snoogle last week. We got it second hand from this maternity consignment store for like $18 and it included the cover. On Amazon I think it is about $50 for the pillow and $20 for the cover. It took me two nights to adjust to it, but now I am getting good sleep again.
For me, I side sleep and the heavy feeling of my uterus and breasts was bothersome. It's weird because I am not even showing yet, but I was having so much trouble sleeping. The pillow can be used several ways but it is so nice for supporting these growing areas. Also try passive muscle relaxation and meditation before bedtime, and maybe a cup of hot (decaf) tea.
Oh yeah, and as pp said, exercise and diet is very important. I don't eat heavy meals past about 7pm and I exercise every day. I always have a hard time sleeping if I didn't exercise.
I've been going to my chiropractor more often recently and it has help tremendously! If that's feasible for you I'd get on board with that. I LOVE going. I feel better head to toe after and there are so many more benefits to chiro care than just back/neck pain.
The pregnancy pillow was my LIFESAVER. I was having to go downstairs to the guest room because I'd wake DH up every night tossing and turning. I have been sleeping with the boppy pregnancy pillow for 4 nights and my life has changed. I never knew I needed one. I went to Target to get a normal body pillow and DH said that he wanted to get the specific pregnancy pillow. It was worth it!

We are excited to meet William Alexander and Harper Abigail in 2015!
Thanks y'all!!! Really appreciate the feedback. Thankfully last night I was actually able to get some sleep! I'm going to order a body pillow this weekend & a co-worker gave me a sample of serenity (essential oil) that help calm & relax you. It's a mixture of lavender & some other soothing oils'i think it did the trick. I'm ordering my own bottle & also scheduling a massage for myself to loosen muscles. I've been pretty exhausted but am trying to walk, do squats, & am concentrating on eating better. I've just been craving carbs so much!
Re: Trouble Sleeping.
I also take Unisom. I believe the regular strength is a category A.
