back labor vs. back pain

Just curious for those of you that had back labor, is it different than back pain? I am a few days from dd and my back is really achy tonight but I also remember lifting my 3 yr. old today in an uncomfortable way as well as moving a container that may have aggravated it. I just was more or less trying to see if tree is a significant difference.

    Yes, there is a difference.  Back labor comes and goes with contractions (mostly, though there might be some lingering aches between contractions).  Mine was in my lower back above the hips, and it felt like someone was shredding my back muscles.  I have backaches and have had spine issues; this was totally different.  I couldn't even move as I got to transition, and absolutely no positions helped to ease the discomfort.  It really felt like knives in my back.  I felt no pain in my stomach/uterus/etc. - it was all in my back.

    It's 100% different. I had back pain my entire pregnancy but back labour is excruciating. It felt like someone was trying to rip the muscles from my back, I've never felt anything like it. Back labour only occurred when sitting or lying down so I spent 95% of my labour standing/pacing.

    Feb 15/14. AS - baby looked great (measured 1w small) and would NOT let us see sex! @ 21w5d 

    Feb 20/14  3D US - its a GIRL!!!!! @ 22w3d

    Feb 27/14. Repeat AS for more pics, HB 124bpm  @ 23w3d

    Mar 6/14. Heard HB (130bpm) via Doppler @ 24w3d
